No I happen to have a formal education... and I could not have figured much of it out on my own, at least without lectures. I'm not sure how your parallel aplies here. I didn't say religious people were stupid -- I just said that their hanging on to an irrational belief because it is more comfortable isn't really logical (admittedly in different words). To believe in religion relies on faith on not anything else intellectually.

y'all sound like a lynch mob.

"oh my god, someone challenged the theory of evolution. how dare they! form a mob! string them up!"

any scientist worth their salt will admit that the theory of evolution has some shortcomings as many theories tend to.

personally, i believe the evolution the best we can come up with given our current technologies. can we do better? time will tell. in the meantime, bring on the criticisms.

    creationists, what say you?

EXCACTLY, as time goes on sciencists will find more and more fossils that will further prove the theory of evolution..... Western Sciencists are just now being allowed to dig in China, so more fossils will eventually be found.

I guess I don't really care what other people think about these things. Religion sort of gives one an ultimatum -- believe in creationism or abandone their religious teachings and risk a fiery hell. Obviously not much of a choice if you are devoutly religious.

I'm not personally religious but I have to say that most of the religious people I know are better people than I am and I wish I could be as good of a person as them at times. Of course, we all know exceptions.

With that said it is hard to refute evolution given all the scientific research and data that has been acquired in the past.

All those fossils are the best disproof of evolution.

Every new fossil discovery creates two new missing links!

It was god that put them there. To test our faith! Not the devil. Duh.

My wife's brother and her ex are so hairy that I have no doubt they ARE the missing link. Anybody who doesn't think we evolved from apes should be comfortable that I now have irrefutable proof. I'm not going to go to the lengths to publish any scientific papers and I'm sure many others have kept their discoveries to themselves. Just understand that evolution is happening as we speak.

Given your upbringing in the hood and all that rap you listen to I'm not sure how you would know proper english. Shouldn't you be speaking eubonics by now?

For the love of god... you aren't one of those grammar nazi dinks too are you Blurred? I'm gonna start stalking you again if you don't leave my grammar alone.

Perhaps. But, that is not the 48% that worry me.

FWIW, if you want to wave the banner of science, you must also be willing to embrace the method. You toss some often wacky ideas in the air, and spend a great deal of time trying to shoot holes in them. Only charlatans can declare their ideas to be truth without test.

Look, I like the theory of evolution, it seems more plausible than anything else that I've seen presented, but that hardly makes it cannon. For the longest time, we thought our universe was geocentric, not heliocentric. It also works just fine with my atheist viewpoint, although belief in evolution need not preclude faith, unless you take a literal biblical viewpoint.

Apparently, one must be unintelligent to believe in intelligent design. If it were a valid theory, there is no way that GWB would be president. There is certainly nothing intelligent about him. Did "low hanging fruit" evolve or is it the result of intelligent design? Those of you who believe in ID are low hanging fruit( as in easy targets for ridicule and criticism). Someone kill this thread before my head explodes.
    Legalize it. Don't criticize it.

Evolution happens. It means "changes over time". Lots of stuff changes over time, including the law of gravity's effect on body parts sagging. (Gravity is a law, not theory- F=ma) What gets peoples panties in a bunch is the one little observation made by Darwin that apes and humans appear to be similar-this is what people are referring to when they say, "I don't believe in evolution"-what they mean to say is their religious beliefs or mindset or little voices in their heads, says that apes did/ did not evolve into humans. Darwin had a difficult time publishing his observations because of his deep religious convictions-remember he was studying to become clergy before setting sail on the Beagle. He noticed similarities, he didn't say it was fact.

And this is the leading paradigm of biology. Plate tectonics, the leading paradigm of geology, had a tough time catching on, too.

Scientific laws are facts, as in gas laws, (PV=nRT), gravity, most stuff that can be written in a mathematical equation. Theories explain and predict phenomena-Laws and theories work together. For example, Gas Laws are based on Atomic Theory-which explains and predicts what atoms and molecules do.

Thanks for reading today's science lesson.
First off, F=ma has nothing to do with gravity, that's Newton's second law of motion.
Newton's universal law of gravity is Gm1m2/r*r (r squared)
    G is the gravitational constant
The M's are the two point masses
r is the distance between the two masses

Gravity is still a theory. It has been correct in countless cases throughout history but if one case were to vary from what is expected by gravitational theory, the entire thing would either have to be re-worked or thrown out all together.

This is basic physics, I'm embarrassed for you. (ie. grade eleven physics)

Thanks for reading today's modified science lesson.

Blurred you get me so hot and excited when you complement me like that. I don't know why though cause there's nobody on this site as goofy look'in as you. You make me look like model material.

I can only spend so much time with my kid each day -- clan rules... I didn't make them.

Model material? Is that why you look at yourself in the mirror every chance you get?

Your self-esteem must be at an all time low to be looking for those "little highs".

Is this why you hate blacks? Cuz you think you're better looking than them?

I don't hate blacks... just niggers. And yes I love looking in the mirror... when I see that handsome face smiling back at me I just know it's going to be a good day.

I'm just kidding on the last rsponse. I just couldn't help it cause you make me out to be the devil. I think there are nice black people and black people that are assholes. I guess the assholes and the gang-bangers would fit into the nigger catagory. There's alot of racist black people too. I'm not afraid to admit I don't like them either.

There was a famous "nigger" who said this-
"not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character”

You might want to think about that for a minute.

There are assholes of every race. I don't hear you using racist terms for them.

I judge people on their character, not their appearance.
(my comments on your goofy appearance are only for humor cause I know your obsessed with you're "looks")

It's a shame you judge people without even knowing them.
I feel sorry for your pretty ass.

If you want to reread my posts you might realize that thats exactly how I operate. I give everybody the benefit of the doubt. I am nice to everybody I meet. If their not nice to me I don't feel bad about returning the favor.

You have absolutely no basis for thinking this and I challenge you to give me one. I wear a baseball cap EVERYday -- I'm really out to impress people and really go out of my way to cause I care so much about what they think

Once again... if you don't want to look at my criteria I clearly stated above then don't. If it makes you feel better to think I'm a racist then by all means go ahead. I really don't care what most people think for the most part and surely don't care what people I don't even know think. But don't assume I always judge people without talking to them.

ummmm NO! new fossil discoveries usually provide more proof for evolution. Look at the discovery of microraptor. This was another feathered reptile that further shows that birds evolved from reptiles.....

If anyone here has actually read "Origin of Species" by Darwin, the proof for evolution is plain for the eye to see. Another good read that proves evolution is "The Beak of the Finch: A Story of Evolution in Our Time" by Jonathan Weiner, which shows adaptive radiation and natural selection in a matter of years as the population of different finch species and different finch beaks change as the environment on the Galapagos changes.

People don't want to believe that humans and monkeys share a common ancestor (actually they usually confuse it and think humans evolved from chimps), but you want to know the truth: we didn't just evolve from a common ancestor with primates, EVERY ORGANISM evolved from bacteria (it was just a couple billion years ago that we did). Look at the components of your cells for proof.

But I'm done arguing, i believe that evolution is true and you don't, I don't care what you believe.....
