Who is the best to go with when shipping skis?
Thanks!
I have always shipped UPS and have never had a problem when shipping skis.
FedEx is cheaper and safer.
Have shipped skis, snowboards, surfboards, paintball guns, real guns, etc. via FedEx and they've been safe and happy items every time.
I've boycotted UPS after 4 (count 'em) 4 potential screaming matches with the shipping Nazi at the local UPS store. It's expensive as hell, they charge you for absolutely everything, they often insist on opening you packages to view the contents, and they refuse to ship things if they're not happy w/ the packing (just a ploy to take even more money from you to repackage).
I typically decide on shippers based on weight. Anything over 5lbs goes to FedEx, everything else, USPS.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.
skis...bikes...fedex....anything else kinda small=usps..they rock

I would ship Fedex any day over UPS. The last pair of skis I had shipped by UPS arrived in 7 days (including the weekend) when they were supposed to be here in 3, the box had a huge gouge in it and the skis were damaged. This was over 2 months ago and so far UPS has refused to pay any damages.
UPS also refuses to leave anything at my place without a signature, this can vary depending on your location, but Fedex leaves stuff for me all the time and will call me on my cell if it's something valuable. No comparison in my opinion, I would ship USPS as my second choice, they are usually the cheapest seems like.
As mentioned above; FedEx for larger items - but I ship skis, bikes, etc. FedEx Ground. Also, if you take your items to a Kinkos with a FedEx inside or directly to a FedEx site, you'll get your best pricing. Smaller items go USPS Priority Mail.
Whatever you do, don't ship through one of those Mom & Pop We ship everything and have PO boxes too places unless you want to get your clock cleaned.
UPS sucks.
A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

Thanks.
Side note should I be worried that FedEx is just giving me a palstic bag? Should I shell out the cash to get something stronger or just don't worry and have faith that they will get there with out getting demolished?
