Wow. I haven't heard of those guys in a LONG time.

Come to think of it - like 15 years. I saw them on the HORDE tour in 92 or 93 w/ Panic, Spin Drs, Phish, and one or two others.

Yeah, they still record and tour from time to time. I think their last record is from 2004. It's called "The Calling" and is really good, check it out.

    He was basically frightened.

All respect to DMB - especially Carter Beauford, that dude is a fucking CLOCK - but ARU made some glorious noise. I had the chance to meet them (and then introduce them) at Garton's Saloon in Vail back in 1992. The good Colonel wasn't there - he had been arrested at the Fox theater the night before - but Oteil just took right over and not one person complained. They also played 4 sets - just under 6 hours of music. Unbelievable.

Yeah, Carter is a fucking beast....one of the most skilled drummers out there. But ARU sounds nothing like DMB....

ARU! hell yeah. hadnt thought about them in awhile. i'm gonna go listen to some of that roght now

Colonel Bruce was the man (still is i assume, though i havent seen him in a long time). I once saw him at a Mimi Fishman Birthday Party back in the day. he was walking down the backstage stairs as i was walking up... he had a crazy look in his eye and he was drinking from a coffee pot, as i walked by i noticed the coffee pot smelled much more like whiskey than coffee.
