I have a pair of 8800s mounted alpine with looks and it definitely isn't super light. I had thought about mounting them up with naxos, but instead mounted up a pair of 183 gotamas with naxos. When I'm carrying the skis on bootpacks, it seems to me that the gotamas are lighter.

I'm not sure if you already own the 8800, but I think it is an amazing do-it-all ski. It is very forgiving, yet you can also drive it in all but the most chopped up of snow. They float well and will do any turn you ask them to.

I have a pair of dragon top sheet Intuitiv Bigs (same ski as the 8800) mounted with Naxos and they do okay as a touring ski. They're a bit soft for my liking, but they do the job for me in the east. If you like them as an alpine ski, they'll be fine for a touring ski.

great option, more of a skiing ski, less of a walking ski.

skibee's dad just got a set with naxo's and merlyn has a pair too.

Actually have pair of dragon bigs which I like but so get thrown around in the crud. Was thinking with the 8800 being a bit stiffer and as AT ski won't be seeing too much chop should do well.

Actually weight wise the 8800 is pretty good from checking over on the T-P site. About the same as most of the other skis. The pro on the other hand is aboout a kilo per pair heavier.

I was always under the impression that the Bigs/Inspireds were the same as the 8800s. That's not the case?

Was at a shop yesterday and she said flex was about the same but the 8800 was torsionally stiffer.
