    Where to buy a Nikon 70-200 f2.8

Does anyone know where to buy a Nikon 70-200 f2.8 in Switzerland?
I won't be back in the US for two more months and I would like to buy it ASAP.
I was wondering if anyone knows how much customs would be to Switzerland if I decided to buy at B&H. Nikon is so much more expensive in CH that it seems like it would make sense.
Any advice would be appreciated. Also, if someone wants to sell please send me a pm

Across the border in Oe? The prices looked slightly saner in Innsbruck than they were in Zurich - dear lord the shops there were expensive.

I'd offer to hand carry it if I decide to come back... with a slight usage charge

I've got one of the older 80-200 2.8 one-touch lenses (zoom and focus in the same ring) I'd be willing to sell... don't have a clue what they're worth or shipping to CH....

edit: a quick ebay perusal has them going for about $400-$600. Mine's probably in 8.5-9/10 condition (shows slight wear on the outside but the glass is perfect) so... $500? Again, no clue on shipping to CH. I've got front and rear caps and a UV filter to go with.

Did they? I haven't done any research outside CH. I just assumed that it should be even more expensive in euros. I'll check it out, thanks

You will run into warranty issues if you purchase a non-USA version of a Nikon lens.

Since she's currently located outside of the US (and presumably going to stay there for a bit) wouldn't the warranty issues be moot? Or do foreign Nikon service centers refuse to service products bought outside of their region as well?

Yes, my memory was high street shop prices in Innsbruck were a decent bit less (>10&#37 than the prices of the shops in downtown Zurich. I've no idea if their are other better places to buy things in CH or what customs duties would be on getting something from B&H.

I guess it depends on how long she will be outside the US.

I do know this. You get a 5 year warranty with all Nikon USA lenses.

Also, I don't think Nikon USA will perform warranty service on a non-Nikon USA lens without having you jump through a bunch of hoops. They definitely won't touch gray market lenses.

It looks like maybe I found someone to bring the lens with her from the US in a couple of weeks. Now you made me think about warranty issues: what about if I need service on my Nikon US lens while I'm still in Europe? Will I run into warranty issues too?

    Most likely yes....

I'm not certain how warranty works with Nikon. But with Canon, well it's a joke. They advertise World Wide Warranty, but it excludes the USA (& CAN) and vise versa.

Some manufactorers do grant real World Wide Warranty (Pentax and Olympos, most likely others as well).

Thanks hemas. It doesn't make a lot of sense, does it? I hope I don't need service while in Europe...
