    Freerides 1cm forward on XXXs

Ok, so I'm going to mount up my freerides on a pair of 193 XXXs I picked up elcheapo. I've heard about removing the toeshim to get a flatter stance, but I thought I'd leave the binding as is and mount a cm forward. Anyone running XXXs and freerides 1cm forward? Crashnburn'd?

Mounting it forward probably won't help. The reason that people have been removing the toe shim is to change the angle of the binding itself. Most bindings' toe pieces are shorter than the heel piece, creating a forward lean, but the freerides are for the most part flat. Removing the shim lowers the toe. I just mounted up a pair normally and haven't had the feeling of being in the back seat, but that's just me. I'd just mount them normally and then remove the shim later if you feel the need to.

My XXX's are mounted right on the line, not forward at all. I'd do what Storm11's saying and mount them normally and then take out the shim if you feel like you're backseat driving. But I'm no expert though...

I mounted mine flat and on the line of my explosives and while it took an adjustment period (they are much different from my other skis) they ski really well. Try the normal mount first as I remember hearing that there were some durability issues with removing the front shim?

Due to some holes from a previous mounting plate and being in a hurry, I mounted my freerides 2cm forward on my B3s. They rail, but in the deep, I find myself, for fear of the tips plunging, a little further back than I want to be.

Where do you want the weight to count? For the deep/tour - on a lowpro tip ski- I personally think the logical call is a little back, maybe 1 cm. For predominantly firm skiing, 1 forward. Or just lay it on the line. mbs said the ZAG Freeride demonstated that it was basically a pow ski.

He ran his demo binders one slot back to get optimal performance in those conditions. Good observation on his part.
Though a little heavy, moving the boot forward or back didn't require drilling more holes. I'm putting demos on my ZAGs - mostly so everyone can ski them. But I'll move them around for grins.

For freeride bindings, I guess it's your judgement call to live with.
