    Question Taos info, please.

My wife and I will be headed to Taos Wednesday. I have a few questions.

-Most importantly, any locals going to be skiing Thursday or Friday? Would love to get a guided tour. I'll buy the beer. I don't know the mountain too well. I want to hike. I may be meeting up with mag Mooseknuckle if that works out.

-What's the absolute BEST Mexican food in the Taos area?

-Is Ojo Caliente worth the hour drive from Taos?

    Thanks!

There is a really good New Mexican place on the road from Taos proper to the junction to get to the ski valley, though the name is completely missing me.

Guadalajara Grill is pretty good - try the shrimp tacos.

For breakfast there is the Burrito Wagon (think thats what its called)

and yes, hot springs are always worth it.

+1 for Orlandos. Great fish tacos.

Taos Cow ice cream in Arroyo Seco is damn good too.

if you're headed up from sante fe direction, there's a fantastic restaurant that's well worth a stop called "rancho de chimayo". outside of chimayo, nm

Some of the best I've had in the southwest, but carries some gaseous consequences.

#1 Mexican Food = Guadalajara grill (known simply as "the Guad") ask a local, they'll tell you.
Stop into pizano's pizza, on the way, it's really good,
Or in Arroyo Secco, just past Taos Cow, there's a little pub / convenience store / restaurant called Abes. Best green chilli burgers ever!
Stay off the sun exposed stuff, It set up quick!
    Gotta have more Cowbell !!!!

Orlando's has good Mex food at a decent price. It's on the main highway north of town before you get to the turn to the area. Taos is reporting a 90" top and 70" mid-way base and tickets are $30 from now until closing on April 8th. 15" new in the last 4 days and a little more on the way. Looks like I might have to get down there this weekend myself.
