    07 seths vs 07 prophet 90s

For the past 2 seasons i have been skiing on a pair of motherships (the grey ones without the full height tail) and they have served me great. I just bought and mounted a pair of fritschi freerides on them, and this setup will now be BC only, so i am looking for a new pair of skis to ski inbounds and some slackcountry with.

Basically, i want to ski everything on the mtn, pow, alpine, trees, park, cliffs, booters, etc... I want a ski fat enough for the deep stuff, but good in the park as well. I weigh around 195 and 6'5"

Basically i am mainly considering two skis, the 189cm seth [130/98/118], and the 186cm prophet 90[125-90-113] (also considering prophet 100 but everywhere is sold out)

I can get both of these skis for around the same price, and i was just wondering what people opinions were on the two. (or something else that can be had for around the same price ~450US or 600CAD)

    thanks

I'd also be interested in a 189 seth review for smaller folks. Are they harder to ski than say a 186 lp or stockli dp?

The 189 Seth is my favorite all around ski. Period.

I don't hit the park but if you like to spin mount +5. For more big mountain +3.

    I'm 6'2" and 188 lbs. I mounted +2.5

Hit Bear Mountain groomers today, since there's no snow whatsoever off the runs in SoCal this winter.

Skied my new 179 Seths (+1) for the first time, they're decent but not super different than my 179 Maden AKs. A bit lighter and snappier than Madens, but the Seths chatter when edged hard are steep hardpack - I expected a more solid carve from the narrower, stiffer-tailed ski. (could be expecting too much from a 98mm waist ski, still plenty fat) Also the tails washed on the last 1/3 of the turn if I stayed centered on the ski (which I try to do), and had to pressure the boot backs to get the tails to stay hooked. The Madens (+0) are more damp and seem to hold an edge better at the tail, but it could be the mounting position.

In defense of the Seths, tonight I noticed the edges aren't as sharp on the tails as they should be. Also could have been the sketchy snow conditions, which were hardpack in the shade and two inches of slush on top of old hardpack in the sun. I'll shapren the tails and try the Seths once more before I remount the bindings at +0, which I think may be better for the way I ski (except for table-tops, don't do any park or switch).

(Note that Jim's 189's are reported to be quite a bit stiffer than the 179s, so your mileage may vary.)

i have 189 seths (06 green ones) and they are sick for all mtn. i have them mounted at +4, which i have really liked, especially since my other skis are spats for big days and crud days.

i was worried about the length but i prefer it in everything except really tight trees.

    fyi im 5'11'' 185.
