I'm listening to yesterday's right now about our wonderful private military contractor, Blackwater Inc.. Fascinating stuff.
Umm, yeah. I listened to that too. I'm buying that book now. Very scary stuff. Its not suprising that Blackwater was founded by a Bush connected right wing christian wacko, but its extremely frightening.

This sort of things just lights my fire. Private American armies with Christian agenda's being sent to the worlds volatile Muslim regions on no bid contracts. Unbelievable.

Our president and his friends are crooked whack jobs of the highest order. Funneling my tax money into radical gun toting Christian organizations.

Fresh Air Interview An excellent piece, well worth the listen. Window Media Player

    Worst president ever. Discuss.

If you ever get the chance, watch the show "Soldiers For Hire" about Executive Outcomes in Angola. Fascinating look at modern mercinaries.

It is not a good/bad view of them, very grey. Basically for 20M/year about a hundred guys (given basically a free hand to act) did the job that 18,000 UN peacekeepers failed to do after EO was kicked out.

I only found it at a specialty type store after reading about EO in World's Most Dangerous Places. Kind of sucks that they never got paid but what do you expect?
You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?

    This shit is fucking scary.

On the one hand, private contracters make economic sense, I get that. ON the other hand, thier lack of responsibilty to report to any government directly, the fact that most people have no idea what they're doing, and the whole fundamentalist christian connection just seem like something out of a far fetched movie.

2 parts that got me was them basically commanding US troops, and then showing up in unplated black vehicles in full combat mode in New Orleans post-Katrina. Hope the lawsuit goes thru, right now they are apparently both exempt from US law [via a piece of the 'patriot' act] and from the Code of Military Justice. Fuckers...
