    What's BRO Models?

You hook up some guy in Reno with $$ for hookers and blow, and a few weeks later he sends you some pretty planks.

    (7 months and counting)

    Edit:
Ok that felt really good. I am actually fairly ok with the wait. If it takes that long for them to get a ski that is perfect, its fine with me. I do, however, think that peoples expectations should be inline with reality. Reality appears to be that untill pat is pushing out high quality skis in a consistent manner the wait will be more than just a few weeks.

"Bought", as in "I've sent money" or as in "my skis were just delivered at my door" ?

as in, I've sent the cabbage. Bought a couple of slightly blemmed models, should have mine soon.

On that related note of Beartooth skiing, we will be up there for sure. Will post a couple of scenics later of a hike up there this past weekend. Rock Creek headwall looked good, but if these warm temps keep up that won't last long. Top of the World and Gardner Headwall area got good snow this year but if the park service does not plow the road to have it open by Memorial Day then that won't matter either. WE shall see.

It's a matter of days if you buy blems...

Stiff, very slight topsheet blem according to Pat. Except for a little ridge near the tip on one, I can't see anything. FKNA!

I did notice that as well. The whole topsheet is shifted slightly down on the right one in the pic. I could care less though.

We're getting them out a little faster now, having worked through some blem issues that almost killed us. We got hit with a shitload of bad bases and bunk material right at the start and made like 75 pair of blems. That hurt. Bad.

We bucked up and have kept going and the skis are looking great now. I went through the blems on the recent good batches last week and found some substandard pairs that we needed to get out the door to make space and pay the bills.

We're horribly late, but we're getting them done. We're committed. In the end, each pair is costing us in excess of $1,300 to build but, at this point, it's more about taking care of the people who believed in us than it is about making money. If we get hammered with any more refunds, it could well be the death of us, but we have the materials and determination to make sure every order is fulfilled and that everyone who ordered is extremely happy they waited. It was a hard lesson, but one that we have learned enough from to go forward with confidence to knock out some great skis over the summer. We're back on 179s now, so our hardcore supporters like jrosendahl will be getting theirs soon.

Big thanks to youz people for hangin in there...

Are you planning to make it up in volume?

With all this talk about supporting you guys by buying the skis, maybe we'd be supporting you more by not buying them?

    don't fuck with our vision......j/k

Such are the hazards of entrepreneurial quests like ours.
I guess if it was easy, everbody would do it.

Had we not had the material issues, we wouldn't have broken even anyway, and we would have learned less. Obstinance and stick-to-it-iveness are hard things for a world accustomed to instant gratification to understand. I can understand why you might think it's just not worth it. But it's not like we developed a software program everyone in the world would need to buy, so we didn't expect to make millions our first year in business. Shit, we were shooting for breaking even, maybe.

For PM Gear, it's about developing a business, not killing it right out of the gate. Had we gone to China, we'd probably be ahead of the game. But we don't live and ski in China. Our customers aren't there. I don't know anyone directly benefitting from the upsurge in the Chinese economy, except maybe a few Asian market speculators. And the only slave labor at PM Gear is me, and that's by choice and passion. Regret it? Why would I? I freakin love it.

I'm not a manufacturing whiz, and didn't really get here by choice. Rather, by necessity. But I do know that by making it this far, we stand to only get better and will work out the economics for the next year. I do know we know more about material science and building skis than the factories that made the skis before us. We paid our dues to learn what we've learned. We plan to carry those lessons forward with improved products and margins.

Neither you nor I can stop the Bro movement and vibe created here amongst the maggots.

It's bigger than the both of us.

    I know, I know -- I just couldn't resist.

Those are some expensive lessons, though.

Thinking about hitting Gardner after the road opens, had to kill the plans last year 'cause of the heat. Was out there a few weeks ago, and it didn't seem much different than last year. Good to hear that there's a little more snow father up the "Tooths". My plan is to do a little skiing down to some of those lakes and chase a few trout making a nice full day of things. Any updates on snow and lake melt would be very much appreciated!

    No shit.

But the longtimers around here know that maggot commitment, endurance and vibe outweighs monetary pitfalls and manufacturing disasters.

We're not Wal Mart. We're better than that.
We're not K2. We're just a bunch of homeboys struggling to make it happen on our own continent.
We're not FedEx. Cause the only overnight guarantee we have is with some of the women we hang out with.
We're just maggots trying to fulfill a dream and put a smile on the faces of the people who believed in us.

The 192s are open for orders now.......as long as you can wait til we get done with all the other orders. We still have about 35 pair to ship, about ten pair of those are in various stages of finishing and the 25 others are getting pressed at a rate of two to three pair a day.

We're sitting on enough material to do about 20 pair of 179 fatties and 20 pair of 192s once we get everyone taken care of who ordered this season.(Again, I'm sorry we hung you guys up - never my intention) That material includes 1.8mm edges and extra thick bases. But in order to keep in business, the price on those two models is going to be significantly higher than 179 and 188 models. 179 Fats will be $739 and 192s will be $789.

But what better time to order for next year than now???

edit: montanaskier - your blems went out today. lars - call or pm me.
