Red face plastic fantastic: sort of a TR

I ski on plastic. Phew that was the hard part now for the evidence:

Living in an (almost) completely flat country is hard if you choose a sport like skiing. Apart from being flat we rarely get snow. So what do you do? Well there is a hill 5 Km from my home that's covered with some white substance. Unfortunately it's not snow but plastic brushes. If you add some soap and water to these they become glidable on skis. The hill has got 30 meter of vertical so don't count on a run longer than 10 second or so.

The hill is run by a Austrian ski instructor who gives ski lessons there. We mostly do some exercises and slalom training. Hey there's no powder there and going off piste only works for a few meters.

I had a student last Fall who was a ski racer in England, and I could never quite picture what the hell he meant when he said he skiied on plastic - and now I know. Well, as I remind myself when I ski in Michigan - shitty skiing is better than no skiing at all...

Skiing is better than not skiing in any situation, but you had better be using boards that you don't care about...

That's why I use the P60s. If the 'piste' becomes dry for some reason (strong wind, freezing temperatures) the edges can become so hot that you melt the base along the edge. P tex repairs don't work as they are way to soft. The only thing that we found that works to repair this is some kind of liquid metal . The P60's already have a metal donor base along the edge.

Better than no turns. I wonder how a huge, steep, megalarge-artificial-slope would ski ... ?

Harblle would maybe suggest more angulation too.
