Official 2007 Wasatch Trail Conditions Thread

Well, I know I'm not the only one around here who has been inspired by all this warmth to bust out the bike, lube it up, and get rolling. JoshP and I rode the Bonneville Shoreline from Dry Creek to City Creek this evening, and it was dry and good to go. Will need a bit more buffing, but its sure to get a lot of traffic soon. Anyone else have any trail beta? Post it up!

Yeah, the shoeline is lookin' good. Antelope Island has been rideable most of the winter, so it should be good.

Wow, I was really surprised how nice the trail is for this time of year. A few more days of tires rolling, and she will be buffed to perfection.

I need to start the "Official 2007 leg conditions after the first ride of the year" thread, mine are a bit achy this morning.

After reading the avy report and looking at the weather this morning, I'd say the bike season is officially here. If nothing else, maybe it'll jinx us into a 3 footer next weekend.

Anyone been on the Ogden shoreline yet? Paging Criscam.

Mmm, rollercoatser. Maybe I'll hit that Friday. I'm also going to check out Pipeline from Church Fork down through Rattlesnake, that should be pretty damn close to ready.

I was told today that the lower pipeline is good to go, just a few mud sections in rattlesnake where tires will dig deep.

I went up and checked Quarry, just because. It is still snowpacked or deep mud bogs. Mostly snowpack.

Did you go out 24/7 at all towards J-Ranch to peep the DH trails? My guess is still muddy, but for how long. . .

Forecast is sunny and warm for a while.

Today, I rode about 10 miles from The Canyons to Deer Valley and back. Mostly, on the paved Olympia trail. It was 85% dry. The Willow Creek trail is also looking pretty good.

It felt good to get out on the bike.

C'mon, give us some real beta. But please, don't put ruts in the thing. The lower part of that trail sucked most of the summer cause of the ruts (that goes for the friggin' horse people especially)

Was going to ride it tomorrow but I'm taking the roadie out. If I hear anything I'll report in.

Just hit up dry crrek to bobsled. Prime, bobsled has barely a trickle on about 1/4 of the trail. Some new berm work, and some stuntz at the bottom on the left (panic brake, ditch bike).

    What's this "rollercoaster", sounds interesting?

I rode bob sled two days ago. there were a few wet spots, but most all of it was dry. There is usually water running down it this time of year, but it was super dry. Fast and fun!!!!!

It is across the street from the Zoo at the mouth of Emigration. There are three or four cool rollercoastery hills, then you can connect to the normal trail and go to Red Butte.

Anytime I have done it, I have found it accidentally, you just kind of keep veering rightish as you climb.

You should call me when you go next time! I've been road biking a bunch lately but wouldn't mind taking the 575 out...

Rode Lambert Park this evening after work. We rode Rodeo, River, Middle, Poppy, Ziggy, Ruin, Lambert Luge, Spring and Rodeo Up. All trails were in excellent condition with hard packed dirt, a layer of dead leaves in the scrub oak, a few wet spots, but nothing sloppy. Tons of fun.

Lambert park's fun....lots of short loops that you can connect together for a longer ride.

So I headed up to check out the Pipeline today, and lemme tell you, it is not near ready to go. I rode up to the gate, all the while encouraged by how many cars I saw with mtn bikes on them. Of course, the road past the gate is still covered by quite a bit of snow, but I thought maybe the trail below Burch Hollow would be ok. After encountering a dozen 4" deep ruts right off the bat, I decided otherwise, although it sure appears that a lot of people didn't. I also checked Church Fork, but the trail was icy and muddy there too. At each spot I tried to gently convince a bunch of other riders that the trail is being beat to shit and not ready to ride, but most people looked at me like I was crazy. Oh well, I headed down the road and at least it was a nice road climb. Give this one a bunch more time though.

    Very nice.

As somebody noted, you start from the parking lot just E of This is The Place Park. Keep going right and up on singletrack. The climb abused me the other day but will be a cruiser with a month of getting in shape.

I'm out of town most of this week, but will probably be up there next week.

Porcupine Rim is in great shape! Oh wait...

So any more beta? This weekend I learned that spin class sure as hell doesn't get my butt ready for a real saddle. Yow. I need to get out on a real bike on a regular basis before we head back to Moab.

Not that I have. Apparently the front side of Glenwild is still too muddy. BST Shoreline is your best bet for a fitness ride I think. Can get 20 miles out of it if you ride Zoo to Ensign and back.

I was tempted to check out the Jeremy and Glenwild trails today but went skiing instead. Went for a run with the kids later and the lower Jeremy trails need a little more time. I am sure some would ride on them but I am a bit protective of the local-local trails. I love mountain biking but should not be discussing PC trails mid-March!
