why the #$%^ are we trying Nichols? (NSR)

He has already been sentenced to life in prison. Are you kidding me? Intelligent (so I think) grown men and women will commit hundreds of hours to sorting this out. Please convince me that trying Nichols on a state level is not a complete waste of reason.

Newsflash-------> Prosecutors drop charges because Nichols will die in prison, regardless of outcome, and save their state millions of $$$.

    thoughts, opinions, ideas are appreciated...

I don't know the particulars but you are right. It is often times sensless to try a person for a serious crime when in fact they have been sentenced to many years in jail.

Here in Spokane we had our very own serial killer. He was picking up hookers and killing them. We caught him and offered something like a 17 for 18 (plea to 17 and we'll dismiss 18 counts of murder). The guy takes the plea and gets sentenced to something like 400 years (maybe only 200 but you get the idea, he'll never be out of jail). Benefit to him is that he doesn't get a death sentence, benefit to us a 30 min. ct proceeding puts him away instead of trying each case.

Now he goes to tacoma to face the FOUR charges he has there. Its an election year so the dist atty takes the "we don't deal w/ killers" position and they end up trying the guy. He gets convicted and they dismiss the other charges. This cost prolly close to $1mil. for all the horseing around...

He was only convicted of killing 8 federal employees and I'm sure the families of the 160 victims would like to see him tried for all his crimes. In the end it makes little difference.
