If you're serious about losing fat and gaining muscle, I highly recommend http://www.bodyforlife.com

I've been there and done that. The shit works.

Tried it once before. Lost some weight and inches off my belly, but didn't gain much muscle.

A couple of people are asking how we're measuring this..

we'll go with % of weight loss, because not everybody has access to a method of measuring bodyfat%.

here's the formula, highest result wins:
    (StartingWeight-EndingWeight)/StartingWeight*100

So, I'm in, but I'm out for the $$$ since I have NO chance. Simple math. Especially since I don't necessarily want to lose pounds, just body fat %.

    Anyway, weighed in this morning:

    5'7"
    162 lbs
(Female, for those who don't know...)

Looks like a lot, but my body fat is only 21%, the recommended amount for a normal person (lots of muscle have I). My goal is to get down to 18% or so.

EDIT: the website I've been using for about a year for general monitoring and the like is www.sparkpeople.com It's free and has a whole-life mentality rather than just being a diet tool. Anyway...

i ran 4.5 miles at lunch today, which is about 3 miles longer than I ran at one time in about a year or 3
I resolve PC issues remotely. Need to get rid of all that pr0n you downloaded on your work laptop? Or did you just get a ton of viruses from searching for "geriatic midget sex"? Either way I can fix them. PM Me for maggot prices.

I went for my first road ride of the season today...so fun and it's so pretty here right now.

Oh, and Shera, thanks for the fitday.com tip...I'm using it!

(I do wish it was snowing though, it's not time for summer yet.)

I walked what felt like 10 miles today just at work.

I logged into the spreadsheet, but still need to weigh myself. I don't have a scale at home at the moment, so I need to get one.

I don't have a scale at home either, so will weigh in asap. I am guessing a little over 2 bill for my 5'8" frame. I'll put it this way, I was looking to barrow a speed suit for a race this weekend and people told me to ask the "husky" guy.

As far as working out skied for 4 hours and had my ass kicked at firefighter training the last to nights.

As far as diet, portion control the last 2 days, but I don't know if I trust myself. I may need some more regimentation.

suppose i ought to throw mine in:
    http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...ner=stevetursi

i haven't looked at that fitday account in a year.. i feel like the calories burned numbers are grossly overestimated. but i suppose it's useful for counting calories..

I don't really use that part, although I did in the past when I lived in the city and wanted to track my gym time. Nowadays, I just go outside and play.

It looks like I'm stalled out right now at my current weight/vs calories consumed. Since I'm really not willing to eat less, I better go hiking.

Yeah, fitday is good for calorie counting, not so good for workouts. I do want to have a place to log my workouts, so I just bought (and am waiting for shipment of) a GPS device will log a whole bunch of really useful information into motionbased.com..

    for an example, here's a friend's workout:
    http://trail.motionbased.com/trail/activity/2190308
(i looked at that and said, "ooooh... cool gadgets...")

so here is where you'll see my workout logs:
http://stevetursi.motionbased.com/ (nothing there yet, but you'll start seeing stuff when my GPS unit arrives)
for those who have an rss reader, you can subscribe to this feed: http://stevetursi.motionbased.com/rss

and nutrition & weight logs will be at fitday.. http://www.fitday.com/WebFit/PublicJ...ner=stevetursi

    this is getting complicated!

(oh, my blog, link in sig, will have all sorts of brutally honest weight loss rambling too.. hehe..)

It doesn't need to be. Just workout most days and eat healthy. Does it need to be any more complicated than that?
