Well, I'm trying to hope that this isn't a troll, so I'll offer some basic advice in addition to the standard SEARCH, JONG!
But basically, no, using candle wax is a bad call, it is not meant to coat the bases of skis, it is meant to burn and smell pretty and help you get laid.
If you have a ski shop nearby, you can buy a block of the cheapest Swix brand wax for less than $10, prolly less than $5, actually. Once you apply it to the ski, either by rubbing it onto the base then ironing it in until it melts, or holding it to the iron and letting it drip onto your ski bases, let it cool for 20 or 30 minutes, then scrape it off using a plastic scraper (can be bought for less then $3 at the same shop you bought the wax). Finally, if you want, although it isn't totally necesary if you aren't obsessed with speed, you can get a bronze or horsehair brush and brush your bases from tip to tail to add to the structure of the remaining wax and to remove any big pieces you might have missed with the scraper. After that, you're ready to go.
Or, you can look here for a much more in depth tutorial: http://www.tetongravity.com/forums/s...ht=waxing+skis
Good luck!
candle wax??? WTF?
it was horsehair. fine particulate was removed, buff surface resulted.
fucking images.
Has anyone considered ear wax? Minimal heat requirements for absorption into bases and a natural renewable resource.
