Great series, had a little of everything. The Yankees are now right where we thought theyd be- since the all star break they have the best record, Sox are 4th overall. Both will probably make the playoffs. I dont know what this over/undermanaged bullpen shit is- they are both playing .600 baseball this year- 2 of the best records in the league. Its so tough in baseball to have over a .600 record, each team is so close. Both can hit, both can (now) pitch, I love the Sox D especially with Ellsbury out there. Detroit has a big series this week vs Cleveland and the Yankees play the O's who suck, however the Yankees are 4-8 so far vs Baltimore.
I wouldnt have brought out Schilling for the 8th, and defintley taken him out when someone got one. His pitch count was low, but thats only half the matter- the number of innings was high, with getting up and warming up 8 times...it does wear on you. Plus the mental strain of facing the Yankees for 7 innings. Tough to fault the manager with the best record in the league though at this point, he is the captain, sink or swim. If Schill didnt groove a 3-2 fastball over the plate, jeter may not have crushed it.

All we needed was to win one game out of two. Instead of a 3 game swing its only a 1 game swing which I can live with. 4.5 games up with 12 to play is fine by me.
