I must address a few things
most importantly, Ringo said it according to everything I have read, complete Beatle recordings, etc.
If you want to buy into the I am the walrus, paul is dead crap good on yea.

2nd, yeah we lost 3 outa 4 to the Mets. But i gotta say I was strangely not bothered by it.
Partly this was because I was seeing good live music every day of the series somewhere in New York.
I also think it may have been that I got to watch dodger games on TV here.
    Did you watch the games?
And as much as I hate for the Dodgers to lose
    ever
especially to the Mets, when I roll around New York in a dodger hat, and my local bartender loves to give me shit about it.
I must say the games were alright considering our pitching rotation is in shambles with injuries and our out field is staffed with great young bats who still make rookie fielding mistakes.
It wasnt bad, the fact they came back and made a game afer the worst first inning ever on Thursday was ok. Lowe doesnt give up that many runs if Kemp fielded half as well as he hit.
Tomko tossed a beut on Friday, before our worn out pen gave it away and the bats got quiet.
Penny recovered and got his 12th on Saturday (which I didnt see much of)
Sunday we again played band aiad with pitching and Stults did alright.
when you all star closer is out, its hard to close close games.
Especially when Kemp again fielded like a high schooler on crack.

I dunno, maybe its all the music and being able to bathe in basom's presence and shout baseball observations at each other during searing guitar riffs, watch SSD hippy out with his lady, or seeing al the scantily clad talent at the free Central park show on Saturday, but I think we will be alright.

I got an extra ticket for shea on August 24th; if you are going to be in town its yours.
It would be 2 mets fans (you and my buddy pete mentioned above) a red sox fan (my lady) and me; so you wouldn't even be out numbered.

    let me know.

& thanks for spanking the padres the week before, that helped too.

I could watch every game, but my time is better spent on yahoo sports refreshing every 30 seconds versus giving ESPN more money to finance Stuart Scott's lazy eye.

I think the next time I'm back east is the weekend of October 27th for the Breeder's Cup at Monmouth Park. If you are any kind of fan of horseracing, you should be there. I hope you will. Monmouth is really a beautiful track. Not Saratoga beautiful, but not too shabby.

And glad to hear NY is welcoming you with open arms ... not such a hard thing to achieve especially with a franchise with so much history lingering around.

I hear that French place on 55th and Madison has a great happy hour.

    From the AP:

At a time when sports headlines were dominated by an NBA betting scandal, Michael Vick's alleged dogfighting involvement and an ongoing steroid investigation that has tainted Barry Bonds' chase of Henry Aaron's home run record, along came Lester.

Awesome win by the Rockies last night. I have no clue why Maddux was taken out (in a non-PH situation no less). Guy had the Rockies' number and out he goes? And I knew the guy that came in the 8th after 3 runs were already in would give up a homerun. All his warmup throws were knee high and down the middle. I was that confident he would give up a homerun that I had my camera all set. Rox are 4-0 in games I've been to this year ... should probably get some season tickets.

    The game-winning homerun:

Today Craig Biggio announced that he is retiring at the end of the season. Hell of a guy and a hell of a ball player.

Great game in Cleveland tonight- 7 scoreless from Matsuzaka, then Okajima, then Papelbon. Sox win, 1-0, against a Cleveland team that has had a lot of late-inning heroics this season. In all honestly, Sabathia pitched better than Diasuke-san, but hey, that's why they play 162.

Anybody else think playoffs after watching the BoSox - Cleveland game?

I mean, if thats what out number 3 starter can do with that solid of a bullpen...the Sox clearly have the pitching to do well in the pennant race and playoffs. Not jinxing anything, just sayin that the pitching is looking mighty fine.

Now we just have to keep pace with the Yanks and not run out of steam before they do...I like our cushion.

shhhhhh......it's only KC, and it's only July.

And it kinda makes sense that Ringo would shout that, although I always thought Lennon said it. I mean, guitarists always have blisters.

yeah, i think its called the wild card race though.

kc shuts out the skanks while the sox put up 14 on cleveland? looks good to me.

Seriously, I don't think the Skanks have any more of a shot at the wild card than they do at the division. I don't see them catching Cleveland, nor do I see them making a real run at the Sox--they've played their best ball of the year for the past month and all the Yankees fans seem happy to be within 10 of Boston.
    Not happening.

    You still there??

You seem to be standings challenged for some weird reason this season, so to help you out:

    W L % GB
    Boston 64 40 .615 - - 7-3 W3

    New York 55 49 .529 9.0 50 6-4

9 games back, and behind both seattle and Cleveland in the Wild Card. At least Jeter will have plenty of time to hit the gay bar scene in October.

Nine games, both teams have some tough series coming up (I am not excited about another trip to Anaheim and Safeco) and of course six head to head games remaining. This isn't over.

Zambrano is pretty unbelieveable the guy has a higher batting average than opposing teams have against him.

The Cubs are starting to scare me as the team most likely to take the NL title this year.

Just glad the Mets are still leading in the East.
