Headed to NYC to see the Yanks and Royals Aug 3 & 4. Seats behind home plate. Haven't been to a major league game in 30 years.

Did Ichiro always speak English so well? Barely hear him interviewed until after the game, but he sounds like he grew up here.
I thought he answered every question in Japanese, didn't he?
Maybe his interpreter grew up here.
was I listening to the interpreter? jeezuz that was good lip synch
Okay, now we can start freaking out. After months of reports that Ortiz's quad was the problem, ESPN just reported he's on his way to Boston for an MRI on his knee so that they can determine when he will get arthroscopy on it. Great.
Maybe all that steroid use is finally taking its toll.
Papi on roids? Okeydoke.
as long as he's back this year you will be fine,
you dont need him to win that weak ass division.
Brad Penny reportedly going to Alabama to see Dr James Andrews...

Arthroscopic surgery is pretty fast. They go in, clean it out, and boom all done. Maybe a month, if its needed at all. Bonds's surgery wasnt the problem- its chronic knee problems, which Ortiz doesnt have. Any athlete could probably use a little cleansing every couple years, like an oil change.

Ortiz seems good, damn.
Boy the Dodgers youngsters look good
hoping we make it ten straight today In The Giants home park.
go D lowe go
I managed to catch the game between the Dodgers and the Giants out at AT&T park on Friday night during a vaca out on the west coast. It was a great pitcher's matchup (Billingsley and Cain) until the 9th when the Giants bullpen imploded.
Observations:
1) Beautiful park
2) The giants are really, really horrible to watch
3) James Loney is going to be really good
4) Hating on Nomar at the park still hasn't gotten old
And whats up with all the sox dudgeon? The Cardinals, who were barely a 500 team, managed to beat 3 vastly superior teams on their way to the championship last year. As billy beane says - the playoffs are a crapshoot. I'm just going to try to enjoy a solid Sox team and the remaining 75 games or so of regular season beisbol.
Bump for the return of Cancer Boy Jonny Lester. Go, Cancer Boy!
I'm a little surprised they're bringing him up, given 1. that he hasn't exactly been setting the world on fire during his rehab and 2. that when Schilling comes back he's likely bumped from the rotation anyway. I guess they just want to get a look at him against major league hitting? Or is he trade bait? In any event, it's pretty inspiring, and everyone should be rooting for this kid tonight.
depends on how he does.
i can see tavarez back in the bullpen. i dont think gabbard is going back to triple a anytime soon, so who knows what is going to happen with schilling.
personally, id rather take chances with gabbard and lester than schilling, tavarez, and wakefield.

Bump for Woodsy who suddenly went silent after the Dodgers lost 3 of 4 to the Metropolitans.

Tavarez is done as a starter until further notice, I'm quite sure. Gabbard has definitely earned a regular spot until proven otherwise. Schilling is back in there as soon as he's ready to go, and I think he'll come back well- if he comes back and sucks, his career might be over. He'd shut it down for the season if he didn't believe he could win games.
I'm not a Yankees fan, but I sure was glad I had A-Rod, Matsui and Abreu on my ESPN Baseball Challenge roster over the weekend!
LESTAH!!!

Glad to see he hasn't lost his uncanny knack for getting into terrible jams and then somehow working out of them.
Strong work by, like, two-thirds of the bullpen.
It was John Lennon that said he had blisters on his fingers.
