I know the ESPN radar guns are notoriously off, but usually they're inflated. Last night Schilling's fastball was 88-89... that's not a good sign- he'll get plenty of contact that way.

I am tempted to gloat about Schill, but the little guy on my other shoulder starts mumbling about Moose and Mariano.

There's a rumor on cnnsi.com that the Yankees have been scouting Helton and Fuentes recently. I'm not sure what the Yankees would have to offer in return, but as a Rockies fan, I hope O'Dowd isn't stupid enough to consider anything they throw his way. Granted Helton is overpaid, but so is anyone the Yankees are willing to unload.

Just reading about Giambi's little "meeting" with Selig and crew (oh, to be a fly on the wall), and I just learned something I think is a pretty big deal. Baseball and the union banned aphetemines in '05 for the first time. This could change the game more than anything, because baseball players have been taking speed since, like, it was invented. And it's easily detected in tests. Watch for players getting really tired in August.

Well, at least we know it won't affect Manny, no way in hell is he on speed.

I thought it was pretty certain that if Helton went anywhere it would be to The Orange County Anaheim Angels of Los Angeles, Anaheim division.

They were banned last year, too- was there a league-wide drop off in play, or did Starbucks sales go through the roof on game days?

I wouldn't be surprised if this was leaked by the Rockies in an effort to create leverage in the long-running trade talks with the Sox about acquiring Helton.

Gammons was just on the DP show saying that his sources, who have never lied to him, told him yesterday that Giambi DID NOT test positive for the amphetamines.

And Stump- I think you're probably right on. The scouts the Yankees had there were probably actually scouting, since the Yankees come to town in a few weeks.

Pavano having Tommy John. Too bad, he was a great pitcher for the Yankees. Any chance theyll resign him after next year?

I'm pretty sure our second baseman who can't catch a pop fly isn't a retired World Series Champion, so I'm out.

All we can hope for now is that he gets some kind of staph infection in his groin area while recuperating in his hospital room, and they have to amputate. In the groin area, I mean.

I don't remember if it was this thread where people were ripping on Joe Morgan, but this site is definitely entertaining.

Newsflash: Tito Fuentes is long retired. Otherwise, he'd be a good option.

I'd also like to say that Kiko Garcia isn't half the shortstop that Mark Belanger was.

Wow, the Yankees look terrible tonight. I mean Kansas City terrible. And former Royal Johnny Damon is leading the way, although the 6 walks (through 6 innings) aren't helping. Little bit of a letdown after winning 2 of 3 from the Sox? Note to Yankees- you're still down 9.5 going into Memorial Day weekend. Don't start spending that playoff share just yet.

As entertaining as it is to watch another Yankees starter get whomped, I'm glad the Sox game has started.

Are any other MLB.TV users annoyed as hell by the fucking Dick's Sporting Goods ad that plays between innings and everytime you switch to a new game?
