    im not that strong

so i tore my acl last season. probably because i was/am out of shape. i was pretty good about PT for the first few months, but then slacked off. after getting my ass kicked on a trip up to WH2O over christmas i've been hitting the gym pretty hard. definitely noticed the strength increase and have lost a bit of weight.

so, to the point. i sat down on the leg press, part of my tuesday heavy leg day, did a set of 12 with 400#, then a set of 10 with 490#, then a set of 8 with 580#.

pushing the weights, i remembered being 13. in 8th grade, and winning $5 off a ninth grader by doing 10 reps with 700# on the leg press. i probably weighed 80 - 90 pounds less then than i do now. i hadnt thought about that in probably 20 yrs.

and i felt like a weakling.

smarter than a 5th grader, maybe. weaker than an 8th grader, guess so.

You probably did the 800# presses with the seat pretty far away from the footrest. That's what I'd tell myself. You "cheated" back then because you didn't know better.

Of course, I remember similar things from jr high and high school. Where'd that stronger yet smaller and skinnier me go?

maybe, but i was also skiing every single day the ski area was open, playing soccer all summer, and my only mode of transportation was a bmx bike. it wouldnt surprise me at all if i really was stronger then.

If "#" means ounces where you come from, yeh, that's pretty pathetic.

if it makes you feel any better i could only do 1 push at 600# when i was 14, and i was a 6'1, 180# rower at the time

its also his cheating technique. i could probably do that if i only let the weights down an inch or two.

I hear Ted Haggard has been using that shake as well.

Bwa! Not sure if it was the high-protein fluids he was getting from his "special friend" or if it was the crystal meth.
