people, people. breck has got some sweet lines. and some horrendous lift lines, but there's as much or more traversing at vail, keystone, and wp.

I second the drive to Vail, Keystone, A-Basin,etc.. idea, it's worth the drive time to get the better terrain...Vail is my fav of them all. Breck isn't a great mountain, just about every other place around it is. good luck with all the clam in Breck.
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

You'll have a great time skiing Breck. It's hudge. There is plenty of steeps, trees and powder stashes to keep you happy. The best stuff is accessed by some short hikes. Crowds aren't any worse than anywhere else, just stay off the lower peak 8 areas, where most of the tourists are.

Imperial bowl, whales tail, windows and Mustang bowl are plenty fun.

Pizza by the slice at Giampetros, Rasta Pasta and the burrito place next door are good cheap food fare.

Salt Creek, liquid lounge, Fattys, are good bars. If you feel like a good stabbing go to Cecelias (The carpet is red for a reason)

PM me when you get here!

Nice. Listen to Tele, he knows it. I left Rasta off my list before. That was a serious bad. I always head that way when friends are in town. Good food, good prices, and buckets of icey cold Red Stripe.

You'll have a great time in Breck. While you're out I would check out the other places since you can. If you don't like Breck drop me a PM I'll show you the goods if I can duck out of work after skipping out to ski all of this week.

why the keystone recommendations? while breck is pretty weak, keystone gets less snow and has way more gapers...keystone is by far the worst mountain on the front range

Yet another Keystone VS Breck argument starting up. I'll take Breck over Keystone most days, but it is all personal preference.

For the life of me, I don't understand why a group of people from Washington would spend the money to come out to Summit County. Are Chrystal, Baker, Bachelor, Whistler, Horse, (the list goes on and on) NOT in close proximity?

    summit stage thirded...
I usually stay in Frisco or Silverthorne to split the difference between options. I've used the stage the past few years & it has worked very well. Now (post-college), the new job = renting a car. I'll be around that week too....but won't be your personal shuttle

They are very close proximity and I've skied them all this year (except Bachelor). My friend put this trip together as a "get away from the wife and kids for 5 days" kind of trip. Just 6 college buddies drinking, skiing and hanging out. Again, I probably wouldn't have picked Breckenridge, but I've never skied in CO, so any mountain is at least a taste of your snow.

It somewhat like you coming to ski Bachelor or Baker when SLC, Vail, etc. are so close to you. People do it to try something new. Although I can't blame you for coming to Baker. The amount of snow that mountain gets is unreal.

10 hours until the plane flight...

Meh, fair enough. Hope you have a good trip. Word of advice- hike the lake chutes and traverse to Whales Tail/peak 7 instead of just skiing imperial. Imperial is gaperific.

I totally don't get all this Breck hating. I went there last Feb (from the PNW by the way) and had an awesome time. The Lake Chutes area was amazing. More 45+ degree lines than you could ski in a trip. I guess if it weren't for that I would have been bored, but that certainly made up for it.

That being said, if I were to get on a plane and shell out $ to leave the PNW, I would go to Utah, not Colorado. Oh wait, that's right .... I'm headed to Alta tomorrow.

Ignore the haters. There's some good stuff on 10, then anything E/6/T-bar/Imperial should keep you busy the rest of the time

Fun place but If I were you I would sack up and go to the Gold Pan Saloon. The regulars are usually very friendly with outsiders. They will probably offer to show you around the mountain, or crack a bar stool over your head.
