    World Wide Pow Chargage.

The stoke is coming in from everywhere, L'East Coast, MontanatoCORockies, Tahoe, PNW/BC, Yurp. What a charge, huh?

    Powder makes me goo.

I'm feeling old but happy after the weekend.

    Rusty timed his leave well.

To summarize: A well earned flaccidity, huh?

No shit. I was burning with green jealousy about wanting to rip around the Orchards and Slides, but it wasn't too shabby down here.

Hev has also wisely timed a trip here. It's interesting to see and hear the reactions of a seasoned Colorado skier....heh.

Yes, well earned indeed. I showed Rusty & Rehabit a few lines yesterday and had some of my best turns of the season. I got to see Rehabit yardsale out of the first couloir when he hit the deeeeep at the bottom.

The First Couloir is directly above the Paradise chair. It's usually blown in and filled with lots of snow. We haven't had much wind while we've had snow to blow so it's pretty sketchy. The top was creamy but the choke was nasty & full or rocks. Of course you can't see the choke from the top and once you are there and see the mess of rocks the only sensible way out is back up wence you've come. So I did chose the route any self respecting guy would and lept in, off a rock, into a slot, over a rock, through a slot and onto the apron where it was once again Kootenay Cream.

Rehabit decided to take the hard route through. He tried to wiggle & scrape down the rock. Eventually he realized his folly when he was in a situation where he either slid on his ass down 10' of rock or threw caution to the wind and jumped in. He jumped in. But that's his story to tell.

What I heard.. (Whoa, I've never ever seen it this sketchy!)
Considering this is coming fom a life long Red skier, I did what any powder frenzied skiier would do, and dropped in! The top two turns down to the choke 30 feet below were worth it no matter what, but then I realize I'm in over my head. I see what I think is a little side slip around a rock, proceed to get both my ski tips wedged under said rock... Not good! Wishing I was wearing a helmet, I jumped off the rock and hit about 30mph in 2 seconds. Hopped over the second little band of rocks and proceeded to explode about two seconds later in 3 feet of powder. I asked for it, and I got it> It's a much more asthetic line than 2nd couloir anyway! Cambodia Trees, The Mines, Poochies Cabin, Orchards and Powder Fields, Lift Line, Paradise Trees, here there and everywhere trees...make rehabit a happy camper! Full Red TR to come.

    Everywhere except Alyeska

We had almost 500" at the end of January. Then February farted out a meagre 15" total as well as a number of melt/refreeze cycles. Riches to rags.

Soooooo good to be surrounded by snow and stoke again for a while. The TRs are so much fun to read and look at. BH -- it was awesome. Looking forward to chasing you around Xtal again for a bit next season!
