    Brett,

Come to Alta in December while I'm there, we'll hit it, and then you can STFU.

Is that a promise, challenge, or a friendly invitation?

Seriously, you look at this pic, you huck from top red mark, drop 10 feet, land somewhere at lower mark depending on speed, and you have a straight-open runout. Is there something this picture isn't showing? If you're just standing up for your friend pushing himself, I can understand that and that's cool, but from the pic it looks pretty simple and clean. Not trying to stir shit up.

For starters, it is way more filled in than I have ever seen it, normally just exposed rock down that chute with a 3 ft. high pyramid-o-death sticking up at the bottom. Also, this is not a huge air, only 15-20 ft., but you have about 30ft of horizontal clearance and no lip. You have to come in hauling ass just to get your skis off the snow, and then you hover 2 ft. over the rocks all the way to your landing. It is not to be taken lightly.

Lots of different claims on its height, etc., but the guy that we know has stuck it says it's 15.

Dan not only will I huck that line clean all day long, I'll even make it entertaining and do this one too.

Watchoo talkin bout X-over? I've skied that line a million times.

    O.K., maybe 10 times.

It CAN be nearly impossible to do without grinding the rocks on the takeoff, but it is pretty much always a mandatory air. I've never just skied over it, you have to jump it.

With low snow it can be burly, but with snow like it is in the uploaded picture it is not too bad.

    Nice post though!

    Huck that line.

I feel like I'm on name that tune.

Do you think BlurredElevens gets that?

Ahh the good old days, the gong show, name that tune, charlies angles those were the days.

I suppose that dates me. Blurred I'd like to see you huck that second line. Before you spout off talkin trash you should really understand what you are getting into. Kind of like all those guys who bashed your 20 or 30'er. Did they understand? I looked at your photo and thought 30' my ass. But then I remembered a video of rustler 4. The video made it look puny but I knew better. So I gave you the benefit of the doubt.

I'm sure you can do Xovers line. The other line, well make sure you let us know when its going down because we all want to watch. Actually I'd like to see you stick Xovers line once. I stuck it once but rag dolled a few seconds later right after it opens up.

At a resort where you regularly see people teeing off on 20- 30'ers and where on a big day you'll see bombholes everywhere. And if your lucky you will see Dan or whoever huck all of bad news. But on those same days I drop into the entrance of rustler 4 and theres not a track in it. Why's that? I suppose it could be that it's just to much a gaper run or it could be that it's a lot bigger, nastier, no real takeoff point and with much less room in the run out than you think.

I'll dig up some better photos which aren't as foreshortened as the one posted. I'll also post some pictures of myself doing my gaper best on it. And when I say gaper I mean it. Talk about monkey style, I got it going on.... and down and while flailing around. The photos are from a few years back - maybe 5. I thought I could just ski down pick up my skis, float the rocks and land. I skied into the throat, ricocheted a turn off the side, saw all the rocks I had to clear and jumped like only a terrified gaper can.

Please make a trip out. I'd love to show you around. You may have to wait a little - I'm kinda old, a little chubby and definitely out of shape. But if you promise to visit the holy land I might be inspired to loose a few just so I could say I kept up with Blurreds back when he was just blurreds.

    See you in ?????

    Sincerely,

    Gaper Joe

PS I used to be known as harpo but gaper joe fits better.

I can name that tune in 3 notes Joe.

You know what dude, you offered a challenge in a very polite way, and I'll tell you that I've already promised a few Utards that I'll nail that line this Winter. I've already joked about the line enough, I'm not going to act like it's totally nothing until I see it, but you can guarantee that I'll do it. I'm not going to say much more, but I not only accept the challenge from you, but I'll do it so you can film it and post it here, so we can all debate whether it's really a 3 or 5 footer. I'll ski with you anytime bro. BTW-are you saying the line is sicker then all of Bad News? Just checking.

I would love to see other pics and footie of it.

In the last photo you can see the cat track all the peple are stranding on in the previous photo - it's a long way back to r4.

Bad news, rustler 4? I will never huck all of bad news. I might have another rustler 4 in me though.

Let me know when to bring the camera.

Don't forget to tell all about your R4 induced messed up shoulder -frickin' gaper can't even lift up his own daughter now cause of R4.

    Blurred,

Let Da Crew know when you're finally gonna make it out this winter (after dissing us last winter) I am sure you, Gaper Jo, Particle and I could find some trouble

That's cool dude, but I ask the maggot collective for pics of "Altas gnarliest air" right now. I want to see if I'm actually going to have to "catch air".

NOTE: The first sentence of the original post.

We've got gnarlier than that; just waiting for the coverage on any given year. Hope we get that coverage before St8 and Gaper Joe get to old and dicrepid (sp?)

Things can look really different from the top than from a few hundred yards away, perspective totally changes. The picture dosent make the run look really crazy, but it could be...
