Bar none my best day up there for the last 2 seasons. Blower all the way down West Ridge this morning, fresh the whole way, 4th chair. Rasputin was hogging up chair #2. Had a few fly bys from the Gelande jumpers while riding the chair, nutz. One hike up TV mountain, shralped the powerline run, damn those 2 drops in there were sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet. Was finding knee deep face shot stuff till the last run.

    Yum

Doubt it was better than Discovery, though. Website is now reporting this evening 24 inches in the past 24 hours. Probably the best day ever for me. It was true cold smoke all day but minus the Snowbowl crowds

I'm glad I chose to make the drive today.

Word is this will be the last Gelande Cup, the guys who make it happen are sick of doing all the work with almost no help from Snowbowl. Not so much as comp tickets for the guys preping the jump.

FOS gave a pretty good nutshell version, it was a thoroghly bomber day, certainly the best conditions this season, I heard howls of joy behind me in West Bowls on the first run, people were whoopin' it up.

It's been the best week of the season, refresher inches added every day, should be more of the same tomorrow. I'm glad other places are getting hit at the same time, its kept the Bowl near empty and slow to track out.

Another couple inches overnight, it should be good again. I will be skiing with my six year old son, so, even though he is progressing quickly, and has already come to the conclusion that "The fun part of skiing is ripping the unpacked snow"*, I will not be shralping the big powder lines today.

*In his own words, I am SO proud!

Yeah, yesterday was the best I've skied it in the past 2 seasons for sure.

The new reported for today wasn't. New, I mean. It fell yesterday during the day, not overnight. Conditions weren't quite as mad today, yesterday the Bowl got skied pretty hard for a weekday, and so this morning it was mostly crud although the really really tight tree lines still held some surprises. Yesterday was a day of constant new lines of fresh. Not so today.

Yesterday and today I was on the T-Stix that I got to replace those floppy PowderBirds. Those T-Stix rock in the pow but I found today that they get pushed around a bit in the deeper really choppy inconsistent crud. For how much they weigh and how softish is their very round flex, though -- great stability. The springiness was a good surprise.

I shared a chair with Rasputin up in Lavelle, and I agree with Rasputin -- deep fucking shame that the Bowl's owners aren't supporting the Gelande. Makes me wonder what they will support. For fuck's sake, the people who prep the jump & landing should get free lift tix. That's a ton of work sidestepping that thing over and over until it's firm. They were at it all day yesterday. Why can't the owners hand over a few comp'ed day passes?

Especially seeing how much food & beer & booze they were going to sell to that huge crowd of non-skiing/non-riding folks who were just there for the partying and hopes of Gelande carnage. Never seen so many cars before.
