Bummer about the MCL. At least you went down swinging.

BTW, good to ski with everybody again. Now back to skiing with Ole for a couple of weeks.
You see, in this world there's two kinds of people, my friend: Those with loaded guns and those who dig. You dig.

Heal up proper, Hop. It was fun to ski with you again if just for a few hours.

So in other words, you broke a nail.

Just kidding, man. That fucking sucks. Still, it's great that MCLs generally heal on their own. I tweaked mine a couple of years back at Mammoth and was good to go after about a month. Hopefully we'll see you around again. Or perhaps I'll have to come up your way and get bitch slapped by Baker again.

Tell me about MCL tears. I had a grade I MCL strain with a very small tear (or so the doc said) 6 years ago. Did 2 months of PT 1x a week. Every now and then, when I ride hard, the knee gets sore and a 3-4" long bruise shows up on the left side below the MCL. It's not anything bad, icing it down gets rid of the pain and the bruise goes away after a few days. Anyone experience this?

Yeah, you'll probably see me soon enough. Shoe reminded me that the KW comp was happening around the end of March, so that's a good goal to work towards. At the very least I should be able to ski in and park it at the bottom of the Cirque with some beers in hand.

Hah, I thought I was the only dumbass who hurt himself this week... Somehow I managed torqueing my shoulder on a flat landing from a 20 footer. Wednesday night - couldn't even put my own socks on. Today - a lot better. Praying to be able to ski by this sunday!

Zack's video has me so stoked!

man, i need help. years ago it was smack and now its untracked powpow. the 1st step is admitting to ullr and myself that i am powerless over my urge to ski untracked lines. well, i got that one down but like they say its impossible to quit if i'm really not ready to quit so those next 11 steps are gonna have to wait. and w/ the conditions in tahoe right now, there's no fucking way i'm ready to quit. been skiing through the pain of a jacked back w/ bruised ribs but when i'm skiing i forget all about it.

"hollywood" this am was unreal. little 2" slabs on the very top and then bomber stability in $$$ pow down a classic avy path. and from my jobsite (and the whole town of myers) i'll be ogling our tracks all day today thinking about when i can get some more. word is the gardnerville run is firing so tomorrow some 4-5,000' lines will go down. only downside is the northerly flow thats coming in this morning w/ those nasty fucking east winds planning on showing up later. hopefully they aren't too bad so you weekend warriors can get some of what is the best conditions in a few years round these parts. if you own touring gear, you'd be a fool not to use it this weekend if the resorts are played. git sum!!!!!

btw, i was definitely fried also and was going to blow off skiing. but made a last minute decision at 8:20 this morning to join a buddy of mine who i hadn't skied with all season. definitely good stuff... but started really getting tracked out with more skiers coming in... prolly for long 3 or 4 day weekends.

i'll be in the Presidio next Wed night if you want to catch up for beers.
I slept horrible with nightmares about them opening the hikes without me yesterday so I woke up, called in sick, packed my stuff and headed for alpine. Unfortunately some idiot on 80 crashed and after 2.5 hours I barely made it to soda springs so I made the call to hit Sugar Bowl instead. After being initially disappointed, the day turned out better than I ever could have hoped. They dropped the ropes to crows nest and I had as many fresh tracks as I wanted. We are talking not opened in 5 days over the shoulder blower first tracks. Only a few other people sessioning back there! Incredible! Mixing that with some fun soft goods on Disney and Lincoln made for a great morning and mid day. In the afternoon they opened the gates to upper roller pass/judah. I followed a guy breaking trail and scored more choking blower for the rest of my day!! Man I needed that and I slept like a baby last night.

Fun, but a bit of a let down, not superlight pow, kind of sticky. Guess I'm becoming a pow snob after 9 big days. Granite Wednesday was the highlight.

Agreed. Yesterday's Squaw dump was already firming up by run 3, and I was waiting in the KT corral when they dropped the rope... Not a surprise that the cement has cured fully. I ain't complaining.

Hey does any mag know of a, like, higher-altitude place in the Tahoe area? I'll bet a factor like that would make all the difference...

I think Trimmer peak, especially thte upper half, holds some of the coldest powder. Gimpy and Sierra Cement, do you agree?

Yes Boss. Thank you, Boss. Yes, that day was very nice, Boss. Actually, the whole week was very nice.

As long as we are covering old business on Tahoe firing, Get a load of what they did to Thimble Peak above the Sunrise Lift at Kirkwood. Huge crown and ripped to the ground.
