What's the best way to track the weather forecast for Tahoe? Need to make a call on rallying down there early than planned for Wed or waiting for Thursday.

Snuck in 2 ½ hours at the Heave today. Canyon was running on the upper mountain, top half was really wind affected, but the lower half was knee-deep goodness. Skiers right of the power poles were mighty fine off Powderbowl . Found a good line skiers left trees of the face, you definitely wanted to be off in the trees or you scraped though. Ended the day hiking upper Avy, well worth it!!! Starting to really shape up now, so good I had to do a second lap, still some lurkers to watch out for. But pretty easy to make it ¾ of the way down.

Good news is the wind is not quite so bad and the snow is piling up. Second hike up Avy my boot track was gone from the lap before.

Howdy Shin! Wunderground for truckee seems to be fairly accurate and has links to snotel sensors for real time snow totals. http://www.wunderground.com/US/CA/Truckee.html

With that said, this weather system is so big and has been going for so long, I don't think any of the forecasters know exactly what is going on. Most places already have 4 plus feet since Thursday night with the heaviest still supposed to come tonight. The snotel sensor at the css lab by sugar bowl is reporting another 20 inchs in the last 24 hours. This week is going to be big no matter what!

Raleys will probably be pretty risky still this weekend if heading back towards the tram, lower FB should be survivable, just dont bring your new skis. Palisades might be a go.

    True.
FB could be fun.... I know someone who already gave it a go. Had to use about 7 sticks of ptex afterwards. That's silliness.

Shugs update - 80 Eastbound. From Truckee, 3 hrs 12 mins, 5.5 miles traveled....

"He's so bored, he doesn't even want to watch his Slingbox on his PDA,"

    Couple things he's pissed about...

    1) Leaving Squaw as KT opens to try to leave back to the Bay
    2) No food or water in the car
    3) Traffic not moving

Got a call from Capt Ron. He tried to leave early (noon) to beat whatever traffic there would be. Sounded like he's in the exact same situation. Caltrans is now reporting that traffic is being held at stateline on 80 due to spin-outs, so I bet that's what they are dealing with.

With ORB you have to install a TV tuner card, connect it to your TV source to the TV tuner on your Windows XP home PC.

With Streambox all you do is connect the streambox to your tv/dvr, and then plug in your ethernet. No PC needed.
