No landline, but a cell, which I turn off when I don't want it to ring, and I selectively don't answer the calls that are going to waste my time. Cheaper and less hassle.

No TV either. Nothing better/scarier than biking home from work after dark, and seeing neighborhood after neighborhood quietly sedated around a pulsing blue tube that shines through the drapes. A nationwide non-thinking salivating malleable populace. It's a tyrants wet dream.

I've been told this a few times in the past week. Is this true? I can't believe it.
Anyone else not have one of these things. Or am I really that out of it?

For what it's worth I don't have a tv either, I hear voices...from the devil
One of my friends just got his first cell phone late last summer.

I have only a cell phone, not a land-line phone, but I treat my cell phone like a land-line phone and leave it at home most times. Personally, I think it's rude and obnoxious to answer your phone and have a conversation on it when you're out in public. I know there are people who say their work "depends on" such access and use, but frankly I don't believe that any job "depends on" a cell phone and the ability to talk on it anywhere, anytime. I think too many people are too eager to be tethered by technology.

So while I have a cell phone, I use it only rarely --and in the most abnormal fashion, according to my friends.

I can call anywhere in the country without paying extra, I can take it anywhere when I want to and I can leave it at home or turn the fucker off when I don't want to be bothered, caller ID tells me who is calling me and I can decide if I want to answer or not (if your # isn't in my phone you'd better leave a message because I'm not gonna pick up), and thanks to the vibrate feature I never have to hear it ring in the first place.
Took the words right outta my mouth.

    pshhhh...says who??

I work w/ a native american. He definitely refers to himself as an indian. We live a few miles away from a reservation, Baraga. Every native american from that reservation that I've ever talked to - and I've talked to quite a few - refer to themselves as indians.

They officially call themselves the Keweenaw Bay Indian Community. They have Keweenaw Bay Indian Community Tribal Councils. Many of the businesses in the community are KBIC somethin' or other....

Political Correctness, in this case, doesn't reflect reality (at least here).
