Wink TR: Batting Clean Up at Alpental 2.20.2006

It was a very rough, painful day being at work. With boatloads of light, super awesome quality snow in the Cascades- work sucked.

but hey, there are a few ways to relieve your stress for Happy Hour- particularly 45 minutes up I-90

Pics don't do this justice. Yeah yeah, I know...should have been there during the day. But batting clean up isn't all that bad.

    Mofro riding the Night Train

Gotta get me some of them night vision goggles - Mofro's in hiding

    there he goes

breaking trail- the kid's got cat eyes

Off we went- into the darkroom, errr White Room. If you saw the pics Midget took on Snoqualmie last month, tonight was twice as deep. Tough to get shots without the pro set up, so we rallied for legitimate waist deep, chasing slough vertical pitches. it wasn't just good- it was reeeeeeeel good. amazing how hard you're ready to charge after a rough day in the office.

But the bartender nailed it. "You guys look like your guilty of something" Who, us? Night powder rules. Game plan for tomorrow night will not suck.

    good bye!

    Thumbs up

Having just been out all Sat-Sun-Mon and with the snow piling up with lowering snow levels, work on Tuesday did suck. Even after having that "you're being selfish" talk with Mrs. Mofro (um....yeah. but its snowing. what did you say?) I had to go back for more.

I started giving Squirrel99 the propa Alpental night tour last year. Last night we continued with HUDGE amounts of new.

There's a Mountain in there somewheres:

I was feeling so generous in showing Sq99 the goods that I even let him set the boot pack for once.

    Alpenglow under the lights

Always refreshing to see no one has followed the trail we set the run before

Cat eyes? No. Jedi Mind tricks.
Skiing bottomless over-the-head blower in the darkness while guided by the Force.

Sq99 should have been in these other than my complete lack of night-pic skills. Chest deep on 40 degree slopes that are gnar in the daytime.

I think his quote was " Dude, it's like Alaska!"
It may have even cured his case of Wildside Wednesdays.

Those skiing it today, it's going to be titties.

I'll be back up for clean up.

This is really extra nice, love the dueling photo perspective. Too bad midget couldn't contribute.

you got most of it right, except the AK quote. The AK quote was about the snow quality/texture

Can't wait to get back up tonight; enjoy the day time turns- you lucky bastards! But I know I'll get mine in later...

I can attest to the same, except we got stuck behind the road closure on I90 on the way up. Only got about an hour of it, but it was a great hour. Squirrel, drop me a line next time you're going up for the evening.

    Hell yeah Squirrely and Mofro!

Skibowl picked up 17 inches yesterday and didn't open till 3. It was worked over pretty good by the time we got up...but there is nothing like squirming your day at a desk, checking snow reports every minute kicking yourself for getting a real job, and then slaying pow till 10 pm. It was free re-fills all night long, huckfest 2007 into the softest landing I have ever had, and then last run of the night was waist deep pow in the trees.

Night pow runs rule it...in case Squirrel's little TR wasn't proof enough.

If cleanup was that good, first-to-bat must have been $$$. How much new snow? I love the first pic of Mofro.

Makes me want to head out after work for some moon patrol. Nicely done Squirrel.

New snow ~12 inches since 5am in the morning, close to 4 feet on the current storm cycle since Sunday morning. No sign of any tracks left over from the am where we were.

    Nipple deep on this shorty.

maybe he was saying thank-you Alaska, for this high pressure we are presently entrenched in that will probably continue to keep your powder light.
Glad to see you making the best of it.

First bat would have been a home run with distance- like over the Green Monster type- and it hurts to think how an incredible daytime laps would be. add vision + speed + Unicorn terrain =

Round Two tonight- 3PIN, give me a call or drop a pm if you're heading up tonight. I anticipate more of the same

Saw that bootpack you two put in today... that's some serious use of the force to be hitting that in the dark. First time I've seen a boot pack that high up above those spines... must of been sicktar.

    Today kinda looked like this

    and this

Enjoy it tonight... lower S8 is played
