Feeling Weather Change in old injuries?

I had heard of this phenomenon, especially in knees, but never believed it until tonight when the wrist I broke longboarding last spring hurt like hell for a few minutes, then a very windy snowstorm blew in about two hours later. It is a bit odd and not founded in any scientific fact that I know of, but I am all about a powdermeter built in to my hand... Any experience with this?

If you really have a barometer in there, just wait until you fly with it.

    Few minutes : not likely.

I had it in my knee for a few years after knee surgery, and in my thumb for a couple of years after having surgery on that. Now I don't notice it so much with the weather, but I do feel it when the pressure changes on an airplane.

My femur hurts when it's going to rain, my ankle hurts when it's going to snow, and my knee hurts when it's going to be cold. I'm not too far out from having my injuries (16 months or so), so hopefully that will go away... I'm pretty much a human barometer.

Let's see, I've dislocated my elbow, badly blown both AC joints at least twice on each side, had ACL reconstuction of one knee, trashed a thumb that was repaired surgically, broke C7 of my neck, arthritic hip and arthritic lumbar spine, various broken fingers, toes, ribs and foot. I should be walking a weather vane and I've never felt a thing I could attribute weather. I guess some people might feel it but I bet lots just convince themselves they feel it.

It's not so much the model year, it's the high mileage or meterage to keep the youth of Canada happy

I get this too. I broke my hand very badly like six years ago and needed reconstructive surgery. Everytime I fly it aches like crazy because of the quick changes in pressure.
I've pretty much resigned myself that it is never going to get better. Then again since my pinky/hand joint was down in the middle of my palm I could care less that it aches when I fly.

    Probably true.

Possibly also varies with circulatory and respiratory system capacity, and you might have the better adaptable one through genetics or training.

Reminds me of how pissed off I would get at the lousy swimmers who had the ears to freedive long and deep.
