    Quick TR: Mt. Cardigan 2.18.07

Did a first-time solo trip to New Hampshire's Mt. Cardigan on Sunday with my dog (the yellow lab) and my wife's boss's dog (the black dog). Great weather, great snow, not very good conversation.

The two feet of fresh on the Alexandria Trail had already been chopped up but there was a really sweet skin track already established. Huge puffy moguls, a couple of nice lips to hop off, some untracked here and there. I think the dogs skied it better than me, actually.

    Great day. Sure beats working.

People shooting ski areas should be sued.

I was up there Sunday too. My day didn't go quite as well.

I did get a sweet wipe-out picture of myself though.

    nice!
i climbed and camped on cardigan about 10yrs ago. it was in the early spring and there was still a ton of snow up top...we flew kites from the peak in the am. it looks like some pretty ski-friendly terrain.

    So is the cone skiable??

I've skied all over the west side of Cardigan and down into the Eastside and Firescrew a few times also.

The top of Cardigan is completely bare. The top of Firescrew has some skiable stuff, but it is unbreakable wind crust. We found one very small spot that actually had good skiing but it was only about a 100 ft. long and the bootpack back up was horrendous. It was just way too windy after the big storm.
