    Killington Pico Sold-

ASC just sold Killington and Pico. http://www.boston.com/business/ticke...ngton_and.html

ASC now has 1/2 a billion in the bank to invest in the Canyons after selling Steamboat, Attitash and Mt. Snow.

While ASC may have bumbled a few things here and there the All East pass was one of the best things going. $349 for a season pass to 6 mountains. It allowed me spend a lot more money at the Pickle Barrel and Wobbly Barn over the years, as well as chase snow to Sunday River and Sugarloaf when it didn't hit VT. Are they next?

I hope there is some kind of multi-mountain pass running next year that will include Killington. Attached is a cell phone pic from Kton this weekend. It was epic.

Well that sucks. The ASC All-East pass was a wicked good deal. Hopefully some mountains make an agreement and we can still get some sort of multi-mountain pass over here.
It's not tragic to die doing what you love.

I'm intrigued by this. It might make me consider getting a pass to a mountain that's not run by the devil.

Night life is secondary to good runs in my book.

well, if you're talkin about the Wobbly Barn, just go back to the house, crowd all your friends (80% male) into a large room, hand everyone a cigarette, and blast a crappy stereo real loud as you're chugging Jager and Coor's light, flashing the room light switch. That'll do it. Tomorrow's another day, when you're actually skiing.

    Fixed it for you.

hey - I hooked up with a chick I met at the Wobbly Barn. She was in the band.

Then why are you misusing it on the nightlife of Killington?

If it's going to help out/improve The Canyons, then I'm all for it. OTOH, if ASC will use the $$$ merely to add buildings and a golf course to The Canyons, then it would be a bummer.

That's what they spend all their money on right now. Why would they change? Perhaps they could thin out, glade and re-claim about 1500 of the 3600 acres they spray about. Or a second gondola to get out of the base area - what a novel idea.

I have a love/hate relationship with that place.

edit: looks a little lonely on the ASC news page now:

did you hear about their new name?

MUSC = Maine & Utah Skiing Company

    Or is it better spelled:

    Skiing
    Company of
    Utah and
    Maine

My thoughts exactly. Funny, this morning, I was riding the 9990 chair with my daughter and was saying how The Canyons needs a gondola from The Sundial Lodge to the base of Peak 5/9990 lifts.
