    Yeah, not sure what happened there. Did I miss something? Where's everyone's name? Damnit. The ridiculing and finger-pointing will have to wait.

    Doesn't it depend on how many snakes are on the plane?

    No question dudes and dudettes

    - Given that

    v = u + at

    v2 = u2 + 2

    s = ut + 1/2 at2

    average velocity = (v + u)/2

    And Managoram's theorem on friction pertaining to velocididal mania induced by rubber on vaginal tissues or conveyor belts.

    V22 = V12 + 2aDx + 0.5(gDt2)*V2 = gDt

    I must deduce that:

    A ) the plane doesn't fly.
    B) in fact it explodes in a cascading collapse resulting from infinite frictional forces.
    C) 2/3 of the maggots here are dumbass douche bag ass lick dorks.

    You got the answer right. You got the question wrong.

    Not that it matters, right?

    Less of a high horse, and more exasperation.

    Though I'll get on whatever fucking horse I choose when I'm hanging out in the Padded Room.

    Neither did you, you smug douche.

    Tired of trying to rub people's noses in your perceived brilliance yet? You over-read the problem.

    nuh-uh. you're stupid.

    I didn't over-read shit, but I already spent way, way, way too much time and frustration on this.

    If any of you numbskulls can explain to me how the treadmill can ever move backwards if whatever's on it isn't actually moving forwards (not the wheels), i.e. making forward progress, then I'll start playing again.

    use common sense, douchebag. I'm quite sure they meant the belt on the conveyor belt would be moving in the opposite direction of the wheels spinning forward. It wasn't that hard to decipher. Don't get all technical and take it for what it is. The actual treadmill/runway isn't going anywhere.

    yup.

    Crazy.

    edit just because I seem to have no restraint in this issue: smok -- you're quite sure they meant something other than what they clearly said. So I should take it for something other than what it is? Or I should take it for what it is? righto, mate. (and treadmills, see, they have these belts on 'em that move....)

    Simple.
    Airplanes don't take off by "spinning their wheels"
    They get thrust from engines that have nothing to do with wheels.
    Wheels might explode from the added speed/friction I guess.

    A Dodge Viper with wings glued to it would have difficulty taking off since its acceleration is based on power applied to the wheels...

    So, the WHEELS will spin significantly faster as it takes off, but the people on the plane might not even notice anything strange.
    Well, aside from the world's largest treadmill.
    I refuse to vote on this, a vote would imply that there's even a a debate on the subject and there absolutely shouldn't be.

    You didn't bother to read the dozens of pages already existing on this spin-off thread and on the original one, do you ?

    Anyone who thinks the plane won't take off has no understanding of physics.

    I'm glad to see that the majority of mags aren't complete fucking idiots (in as far as this problem is concerned).
