    Monarch Cat Skiing 2/19/07

Had a great crew out on the cat today at Monarch. Not a blower day, more like a wind buff, Sierra day in the Colorado Rockies. 4"-5" of new with a bunch of wind. Our host was my friend Chad, who guides for Monarch Cat Tours and owns a liquor store, which means he is cooler than most people I know. The wind buff was super supportive and creamy in a lot of places and with all the snow we have received in the last week (30") it was a good day for the mini golf terrain back there...

    the fun truck

Goal Post entrance to Bull Dog

Dog Heaven...my favorite spot in the Monarch cat area.

    The Hydrant

the potato drop...basically a bomb drop to flat

Frank goes switch off a little drop. He stomped and rode out of it and then once he was maching on the hanging snow field below he finally smacked.

    fun day...I'm crushed.

Keep up the great stoke Harv. I'm digging your reports from an area we don't hear from very often.

How much is the cat skiing on top of a lift pass? I skied there years ago but no terrain like that.

$2200 for the whole cat, fits 12, includes lunch and pass. Cheaper early season and late.

Nice hucks! I really want to hit their cat operation some day.

How many runs did you get in?
Fighting leads to killing, and killing gets to warring. And that was damn near the death of us all.

Maybe because it was the third year in a row for this crew but we did not do the usual counting. My wife asked me as soon as I walked in the door and I really didn't know. I will say that most cat trips at Monarch I have been on we have got between 15-20 runs. I think 21 is my record.

yeah, Harv! I've been wanting a Monarch cat TR since I got bumped off my trip when I was out there three years ago! Thanks for delivering, but now I'm really bummed seeing what I missed.

that dude is like a ghost. I almost can't believe he was there except I have the photos to prove it. no one knew him. he dropped in to every line first, never uttering a word and just sent with such style we were all just speechless. incredible. a legend is born.
