I agree with the sentiments of many here who have stated that this is the worst thing they have ever seen on this site. When shmoesmith lost his wife, that was by far the wosrt news I have ever recieved on this board. Qustioning the morals and personal life of someone who is need of help is truly in poor form.

Over the last few years I have recieved probably $10k myself in donations and gifts from the Maggot community (granted, probably at least $1500 of that has been in beer, but nonetheless...) Has there ever been a thread where someone has asked me for a note from my doctor before donating? Think about this, when I first got sick, I had probably only met 5 or 6 people from this site, and none of them were people I would consider to be friends at the time. The next thing I know Yossarian is calling me up teling me to read a thread. Not once did anyone ask me for proof of my medical condition, or even question it.

Shmoesmith, from what I can gather, had many friends who personally knew him from TGR when this tragedy happenned, some of whom were by his side immediately after it happenned.

As far as CM's questions go, here are my opinions on the matter:

I can kinda understand CM. Not the money thing as that is just being a controlling prick. The question part just because too much information was given. Anything past suicide and depressed is too much. For me anyway. The curious part of my brain went " what the fuck". The logic part of brain wants to make sense of something that cannot be made sense of. Some brains start working overtime. And in this case ask questions that should not have been asked.

In hindsight info was given that should not have been. Shoe wanted to share, which is fine the problem is that some people didn't respect that was all he was willing to share.

For you that are curious chew on this. When I was in first year university I stayed at a smallish residence ~ 120. Second term a guy who was graduating that year committed suicide. Had finished off all work on projects and stuff. Was an A student glee club type of guy. Seemed to have lots of unattractive girls that he hung around with. Its entirely possible that this guy was still a virgin

Ok this is how he did it. He locked himself in a wooden garden shed. Dosed the shed with gas and lit the shed. Just think the planning that went on to kill himself the most painful way possible. That is so fucked up that I for one cannot comprehend it. The imagery of the whole thing is worse than any horror movie. Just think of the message that he sent to all those close to him and family.

I'm at a loss for words. In one strange way, what lph said over on page 2 makes a good point, however what Beaver said about the hookers and the blow - I'm all for that too.

I could care less what he spends our money on. However, I would hope he would use it for funeral expenses, taking a little time off work to grieve, and finding a new place to live - things he's expressed are on his agenda.

Personally speaking, I think Doug disclosed too much information to this community when he said what the police told him the day after she died. We have no right to know that!! Sure, it tipped my curiosity a bit, but it doesn't cancel out what happened to his wife - and that's the whole point here. It's a tragedy.
