To suggest that shmoesmith needs to justify the money I sent to him is the stupidest fucking thing I have heard. It is insulting to him and me.

I agree with the sentiments of many here who have stated that this is the worst thing they have ever seen on this site. When shmoesmith lost his wife, that was by far the wosrt news I have ever recieved on this board. Qustioning the morals and personal life of someone who is need of help is truly in poor form.

Over the last few years I have recieved probably $10k myself in donations and gifts from the Maggot community (granted, probably at least $1500 of that has been in beer, but nonetheless...) Has there ever been a thread where someone has asked me for a note from my doctor before donating? Think about this, when I first got sick, I had probably only met 5 or 6 people from this site, and none of them were people I would consider to be friends at the time. The next thing I know Yossarian is calling me up teling me to read a thread. Not once did anyone ask me for proof of my medical condition, or even question it.

Shmoesmith, from what I can gather, had many friends who personally knew him from TGR when this tragedy happenned, some of whom were by his side immediately after it happenned.

As far as CM's questions go, here are my opinions on the matter:

1) Do you believe you have been upfront and honest about the circumstances surrounding your wife’s passing?

I think he has been pretty damn honest with such a personal matter

2) Were the two of you involved in a “swingers” lifestyle? In your post above you make it sound as though only she was, and that she was sneaking around to do so, and it was against your values.

2a) If so what effect did that have on her happiness and your relationship?

2b) If so is it possible that the dangerous nature of that relationship and the pressure to partake in it caused this end result?

4) Did the Police really notify you less than 18 hours after her death that they suspected she was involved with another maggot?

It's not very hard to use a simple IP logger, in conjuction with the posted=1 and anchor variables in the URL that come after posting to link IP to poster. In fact you can do it really easily in PHP. You can even be sly and serve the script up as, say, the same image as the TGR yellow smiley face man

If anyone should be miffed about this whole situation it is the Mag that did the study of this place for his/her(couldn't find who it was despite numerous search query's) dissertation. That's like writing a book about 90210 just before the Dylan/Kelly/Brandon switch happened.

I agree with what plake said, a lot of this is none of anyones business and talking about the $$$ is kinda wierd as well, a gift is a gift is good will, taking it back or putting conditions on it is just flat out LAME.

I do think, however, that YOU, SHMOESMITH,(and whoever else might be involved) should be honest with yourself and someone else(IE: a THERAPIST, PSYCHOLOGIST or PSYCHIATRIST) who can be objective about everything that did happen, regarding ur relationship with DW and her reasons, either real or percieved for taking her life. Use a 1000$ of the dough u just got and go see a therapist, and be honest. Your Wife took her own life. Its a serious event in someones life, and if you are honest with yourself, you will be able to grow and be happy.
