I'm not one to get caught up in internet drama, but . . .

If everyone would have just ignored this thread from the beginning, it would have dissappeared from sight within minutes.

Posting my disgust at CM and the so-called reasons for this thread does two things.
It "bumps" it...a bad thing
But it in some pathetically small and insignificant way lets Doug, and those around him, know that CM does not speak for me.

This is pointless. I do NOT know who posted this thread. I think it would have been much more tactful to just pm him with whatever questions this person has.

I donated my $$ to Doug, no matter what the deal is because he lost his wife. That is it.

Doug knows that if I had questions, I would PM him.

I'll say this: I've lived in a Communist country until '89. When the system / the secret police wanted to tarnish a person's reputation (usually someone who had a spine), without any basis in reality, the articles which appeared in papers, or the comments one heard, were phrased exactly how CM phrased that initial post: 'Is it true that...?' ...'we have more information which we will release if need be' and so on. And they were signed, in many cases, 'a concerned citizen'.

I fuckin' hated that approach then and I sure fuckin' hate it now.

I sent money to him for him to use as he sees fit, if he wants to spend it on hookers & blow he can go wild although for my donation she's going to be a pretty skanky whore & no blow so I'd recommend spending someone elses money too.

This being TGR, I would be disappointed if he didn't get a hooker and blow with my donation?

All the gossip mongering doesn't change the facts. Shmoe lost his wife. He was financially strapped as a result. People sent money without stipulations of what "lifestyle" he should be living or what he chooses to spend it on. Those who donated did so without any strings trying to impose our own morality on the guy.

CM, your post shows an utter lack of compassion. Yes, you may have a "right" to ask, but exercising that right in a public forum -during what should be a time of grief- makes you an uncouth bastard. If your intentions had been honorable (as you claimed), you'd have had the class to ask these things in a PM. Instead you chose not only to slander him publicly, but to do so under the veil of an alias! I hate to bump this thing and I am ashamed that it was posted like this. I just want Smoe to see another vote of support. I don't think the details are anyones business but his. I gave a small donation to help support someone who had been through a terrible tragedy, period.
Some of this has been posted above but it'll bear repeating:
Morality is highly subjective, and whether or not Shmoe or DW were involved in some kind of "alternative lifestyle" that may have contributed to the end result is irrelevant.
Every body's got dirty laundry and makes bad choices, none of it needs to be aired to anyone but your closest friends.
Someone taking their own life and the circumstances leading to it are always gonna be fucked up but the last thing Shmoe needs is to feel accountable to some anonymous asshole on the internet.
It's not our job to hold anyone accountable. The donations were a choice, and IMO, they don't buy the right to judge.
I want Shmoe to use the money for whatever makes him feel better. Whether it's his mortgage or hookers and blow is up to him.
CM certainly doesn't speak for me.
