Max reviewing skis is like me reviewing tampons.

Heh. Shouldn't you be studying or something, D?

All anyone needs to know about the Bros is that they're fucking awesome skis.

Yeah, I wish I could say the same. I have the Dynafit Verticals since X'mas, but no 179 Soft Bro so far to mount them on. They are dying slowly. Splat, if you are reading this thread, my order is #56. Pm me to let me know what's up with the order. Thanks.

Since we had a backlog of orders from last winter that the factory in Quebec stiffed us on and which had to be cleared up, that number doesn't represent who you are when I look at the list. Sorry.

Skied some cut-up windblown stuff today. Wish the skis were a little heavier due to a little bit of tips getting bounced around. I'll post more details later.

And rontele, what are you saying? That I'm knowledgeable? That's quite an analogy you made there, and I must say I'm a little flattered at how you compliment my ski knowledge.

Max- I had that problem for a little while at first too- in the windblown powder the skis weren't handling as well. However, after a full day at BC skiing the stuff, I got a handle on it. I think it was more a matter of me not being used to it, because they performed pretty well once I got used to the conditions.

Ski faster, seriously. The Bros will take what you give. You push them harder, they push back. If the tips bounce, don't worry, they aren't going anywhere unless you go backseat. Just push them a bit more and they will calm down.

Moving from Explosives to Bros, I felt this same thing, but figured out I just needed to push them harder.

Thanks for making that point, telechuck. Very true.
The better your form and weightstance, the more the skis responds.
My friend teleRob has a saying - "Many of the new skis will make you ski better, but they won't make you a better skier."
We tried to make sure we had a ski that actually made people improve their ski skills, so they would ski better, rather than allow them to continue their bad habits and feel like they were skiing better.

I have been absolutely slaying the windbuff the last few days with my 179 fats. It's redonkulous how sweet they are. Most people are having issues with it but the bros just make it so easy

I also have zero complaints with the flex even though I think they might be a little softer than splat intended (these are some of the earliest 179 fats, I think).

Also, I am freeheelin but when I parallel on hardpack/groomers I can't believe how hard they will rail...and with very little effort.

Haven't we concluded that's a bad idea for me?

This really isn't an issue because if I'm going to be skiing variable snow (or at least if I know I will be), there's a 90% chance I'll be on Lotuses. The BROs will serve me well in bumps, groomers, through trees, and on steep, firm stuff. I'm stoked.

Thanks for that feedback, RS. Most everyone who got the early fatties will be getting stiffer ones when we replace the ealier ones. And you will be stoked with what you get. But we'll give you whatever you need based on the flex of the pair you have now. We've really been nailing flex-adjusting layups lately.

Do you think you like the soft because you tele?
Most people want the next go-around stiffer (and I mean a lot stiffer than yours), but if the foo shits...we'll get your ideal flex nailed, J.

i may be wasted, but, max, you ski decently fast. not as fast as me but alright. and you're skis did you well! that windblown "variable" snow was fairly blown in every run. man up...

I would agree. It was gooood.

However, I did feel like the skis were getting bounced around straightlining over soft bumps/death cookies, and there was still some deflection that caused me to want the skis a little bit stiffer. In flexing my skis side by side with squatch's 188 BROs (I think the first pair ever made), I noticed mine are MUCH softer than his but still considerably stiffer than Baxter's softs, which I flexed earlier in the day. I'd like to flex side by side with Baxter's still...

Not sure why the variance between my stiffs and other stiffs of the same generation. Thoughts, splat?

tips bounce when you are either in the backseat, or don't know how to set an edge. you don't need stiffer skis, you need to ski better.

I haven't skied enough really fat skis to have much of a comparison, but a huge majority of my skiing is in the trees, and that combined with freeheeling doesn't really seem to call for a stiff ski. I mean, my 'ski' becomes a shitload longer when I am turning, you know what I mean?

Personally, I think a lot of people ****COUGH COUGH***** just think they need a super stiff ski because their heroes ski on them.

I would be willing to go a little stiffer, but not too much. I was flexing my original Jaks next to my bros the other day, and I noticed they have a similar thing going on. When you grab the tip and flex the tail against the floor, they seem pretty soft. But put the tail up on a chair 10" from the end, grap the tip 10" in, and they feel a shitload stiffer. I think this is a good characteristic for tele skis.

I totally agree with this. There is a point where a good ski can't be anymore than just a good ski. They're never going to be built absolutely perfectly for a certain kind of turn in a certain kind of condition. If that were the case, we'd all be very good skiers.

There's a point where you just can't complain about a ski anymore, you have to man up and let it teach you how to turn better.

    and to add,

max, i ski on sticks that are roughly the same stiffness as yours and 10cm longer. i out weight you by prolly 75lbs and have 6 inches in height on you, and have been skiing at a high level for longer that you have been alive.

again, you do not need any more or different gear. you need to learn how to ski better and your shit.

i feel like having a huge quiver for newer folks is a bad thing. you never get confident on what you have, always changing to something else and getting used to it.

    marshal-

I don't disagree with the heart of your message, but, trust me, none of your skis are this soft. His "stiffs" are softs. I say this because my brototypes are "halfway between soft and stiff" (according to hearsay from pat via iski) and they are much stiffer. max just calls him stiff so he can be cool on the internet.
