    Strollers? (double) WWMD?

We're going to be having a baby in May. Our little girl will be 14 months old at that point. We're starting to try to figure out some of the logistics of....living...with two little little kids.

We need something that will make getting around w/ the two easy (er). Something that will navigate gravel/dirt roads as well as wal-mart. Whatever we get should also (obviously) be durable enough and versatile enough to last for the next several years, until both younguns will be able to keep up w/ us. It also needs to be able to accomodate one kid at a time. The fact that we'll have one toddler and one infant complicates the issue a little....

What kinds of strollers would the collective recommend? Jogging w/ fixed wheel or normal rotating wheel? Side-by-side or tandem?

    Thanks for any advice/anecdotes/etc.....

edit: some of the ones we're looking at:

We have a Mountain Buggy, the urban single model. It is great - exactly what you are looking for. The doubles look just as good, if not better.

The Canadian Distributor lives just down the road from us and has provided excellent service when we had a few production issues with ours.

They are not cheap - made and imprted from New Zealand.

My brother has a double Chariot brand stroller. It looks pretty cool too. Very expensive, but with a lot of options - skis, bike trailer, etc.

$700 was more than I was thinking about spending.... but I guess I haven't done much thinking about it. Christ that's a lot of stroller....

    Those chariots look cool...

We need something that we can toss in the trunk of a camry, too.

We got one of these from Costco and it's great.

A little big for shopping, but that's what shopping carts are for (just wait until you get to drive the race-car at Home Depot or Lowes!)

Great bike trailer, solid stroller for sidewalks, does ok on a dirt road, and has the option to be open air, screened in, or plastic cover (rain).

Strollers suck on hikes, get a couple backpack carriers.

2 years ago they were $125.

We use the Graco snugride gear and it rules...our stroller is a bad mofo that can off-road well. Of coarse it requires a Graco car seat for the stroller to work as a system for infants, but that's what makes it so money..just click in and go. I'd bet they make a duelly and it works for infants w/car seat and toddlers, etc. without the car seat...so it would work for both kids.
If it's green, smoke it...if it's pink, poke it

Bob strollers might be worth checking out. I had a friend who worked there in their warranty dept and said he got bored because not much came in.

Only have one (child) myself but the double stroller units have always seemed clunky to me. The stacker seems like a better configuration than the double-wides or extra long ones. Your older one may reject roller/stroller early, some kids do. good luck and have fun with the kids

these guys make a bike trailer that you can push. My wife and I were checking these out this weekend. When our kids were smaller we had a double baby jogger, bike trailer, smaller collapsible stroller, fucking hovercraft....entirely too much shit. I like the idea of one that serves multiple functions. If you like to ride around with your kids that is.

    BOB Revolution Duallie

I worked at REI for three years and sold quite a few strollers, although I haven't done much research outside of what they carried (so take this with a grain of salt). I was really impressed with the BOB Revolution. The Lockout feature is really cool and seems pretty durable. My .02

We have the single Chariot and love it. Not sure you could fit it (much less the double) in a Camry but they do fold down fairly easily. If you think you would use the ski/bike/jogger options they can't be beat.
