The second stitched long picture is called the mayfield couloir, near paradise I believe. My bad, looks like fullers2oh called it with spook canyon, Mt. Perkins. ??

well i have no idea what peak that 1st pic is of....but i hope you get it good and can post an epic TR here about it.

there has been a distinct LACK of eastside TR's and if there was snow up in them mtns i would be making up for that myself! Maybe this week things will turn around!

that second pic you posted looks an awful lot like spook canyon on mt perkins east peak.

those lava flows at the bottom of that 2nd pic look a lot like the stuff you see out in the middle of nowhere between independance and big pine (taboose area)

    plase give us another hint.

Ah, yes. I thought the second couloir looked like the one across from the rest stop. Now it's confirmed - just didn't know the name of the area.

    Thanks for the pics.

ok thanks for giving it away - coliseum eh? i knew it! that is some remote terrain alright!

i did lots of time last winter season in that area but never made it to that peak. did TRY one time by bushwacking up division creek but didnt get close

just curious as to how you would access the north facing slope of coliseum - from division or sawmill pass trail?

that sawmill area is an incredible place! lots of great routes and NOBODY for days!

    beta

south of the rest area is a turn-off...go to the dead end, head north on the old highway...at the division creek powerhouse road, head up towards sawmill pass trailhead....continue further and head up to the oak trees....park....follow division creek up right side, then left side...to the fork in the creek....head up slabby area between creeks and trend north and over to right or main creek.....follow left side of creek up....the rest is easy....gain the bowl, gain the pass on right or north side, ascend to summit.....the lack of trail keeps the secret secure.......the main creek above the fork is ok on the right side but way sandy or exposed to avis depending on surface....
