Anybody else will ultra thin socks have problems with liner friction? I had some mean hot spots around my achilles wearing the bridgedale socks that didn't bother me with slightly thicker Dakine synthetic socks.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Smartwool Ultralights yet.
Do you by chance happen to own a large, yellowish, very flat cat?

I'm using the thickest Smartwool socks I could find. I needed the thickness for shin protection since my Garmont Adrenalins lack padding. It is a setup now and so far no issues with cold feet.

You're using thick socks so this might not be relevant for you, but do the extra padded sections on ski socks really work? Or is it a marketing ploy?

there is a guy over on epicski that is selling some sweet fucking socks for 38.10. But, for 38 bucks you get 6 pair. He had some left as of a few days ago

thats pretty close 6 bucks a pair for a sick ass sock(they even are specifically designed for left and right feet - their that cool)

(he sold me some and I have like 30 posts on epic, so i am going to assume that he wont have a problem with this)

Ric/Vailsnopro is a solid guy, he has my vote of confidence, for what that's worth. My feet go numb in anything but the thinnest sock I can find. Warmth is directly proportional to circulation in my boots...

    Jerr,

I can't tell you how much better it felt when I got those thicker blue Smartwool socks with shin padding. It seemed like the little padding it has would be negligable, but that was not the case.

Also, I was at Jackson hole last friday where the car thermometer said it was -12F at the base when we arrived. I didn't even think about my feet once. Perfectly warm and comfortable.

    FYI

    Shameless plug here...
For what it's worth, Bridgedale has a 3 year warranty on their socks. If you wear them down, send receipt to Bridgedale for a free replacement. Bridgedale asks that you donate the used socks!
