No time for a full write-up; but, I will say how happy we are that Tracy of Brooklyn fame wasn't hurt when she tangled with the trees this afternoon.

And Bushwacker made my day in the race course today - I'll let him tell the tale.

In the event that somebody else doesn't fill in the blanks on these stories, I'll do it later.

SFB and I were on the summit chair across the lake and saw that from a distance (no idea it was her until later)....that was a heavy duty wreck. when we saw you guys running up the hill to get to her I thought we were looking at a serious injury. yeesh.

Tracy's wreck is the gnarliest fall I have seen this year. I dont know wheather to congratulate her on her gnar or make her wear body armor next time I ski with her.
short story on the race course I got my ass handed to me long story coming later. and more pictures to come from the party house.

That's just the way we roll

Good to ski with some new faces on some new terrain. Weather and snow were kinda like early season in the PNW. I missed skiing with some of those that bailed on the day. You know who you are and I can’t really blame you. I’ll wait for a good pow day before I’ll be buying a pass again.

During my slide-to-instant-stop-wedged-in-an-ear-to-ear-width-notch-between-two-trees I managed to dig a pole in once and slow down a bit. It probably the difference between being able to laugh it off and a gosey style neck breaking season ender or worse.

I thought I was scared, until I saw the looks on the faces of skiingbear and inspectorG who were on the scene very quickly to untangle me and my gear from the tree vice holding my neck and provide some first aid if needed. The rest of the mags in attendance were in shock, but had the presence of mind to call patrol.

I'm so lucky that this thread is not in gimp central or titled ++ vibes needed. Since I didn't see it, I can't attest to how bad it looked. All I know is I'm glad the only casualty might be having to retire the pink helmet.

Right now I'm comfortably in bed at casa guide/bear, after a little superbowl party debauchery and a good nights sleep. I gave in and just took a 500mg naproxin (thanks!!!) to knock back the soreness a bit.

The Aegix womens jacket can not come soon enough, I hope production on them starts soon. I sure could have used those built in shoulder pads yesterday.

Glad you're okay, Trayc, that sounds scary. Where are those trees? Looks like skier's left side of Corner Chute maybe? We'll have to put up some sort of memorial on "Trayc's Trees".

it was the little tree slot between lower bombs away and lower ortovox where it closes a bit at the bottom, knowwhatImean.

SFB and I came over the knoll on the summit chair and the first thing we see is Bklyn hauling ass head first on her back through the middle, not slowing down at all, then an abrupt stop and 2 people running up to her from the runout. It was a heavy wreck.

sandy and tracy took some hard wrecks this summit and both of 'em got up and skied it to the base. maggettes are tough!

I just checked on trayc and brought her a heating pad, and can attest she's doing well.

so on to the details of the day.... I was super impressed to see the maggot turnout for the day. a couple early runs and the large group split up to explore the 'tude, which was cool w/ everyone. I was just having a blast all day.

that last run through the trees i was getting hungry/tired and got a little outta control too, and the snow was sketch there, and i could have gone down just as easy there too. i was 2nd to last to come down, with tracy behind me.

I don't want to say the events of that 'last run' ruined the day, because we were definitely all happy with the outcome, and that trayc is fine, after what was a scary wreck that could have been much worse... she's a trooper!

    for the full recap:

i had made it down below where Bushwacker was taking the pics, hanging/chatting with (Mrs) Lebowski (he had just skied down lower), Inspector, Bear, then i hear IG going, oh, oh,oh, please arrest, slow down, arrest.. i look up to see a red based BRO model tumbling down the hill at us, with tracy sliding behind it.

amazingly, as the hill directs her towards the tree, she did seem to slow down, but luck had to have been on her side, b/c instead of crashing straight into one of the trunks, she wedges herself perfectly in between them, with much less speed than she had built up in the tumble.

at this point, Bear & IG are already in rescue mode, clicking out of their bindings faster than i'd ever seen anyone do it, and are rushing up at least 20 yards.

With Bear's 15 years of patrol experience, and knowing IG's calm collectiveness and experience as well, I instantly know they are going to do everything they can to help her and triage the scene.

Meanwhile, i start yelling to Trayc to just wait, don't try to move, try to relax... (don't know if that helped at all) but she did good under the scary circumstance.

BushPA is also on his way up to the scene at this point.

Mrs Lebowski is already on the phone to Mr. Lebowski (who was below at the summit chair base) to get patrol moving towards where we were just in case a sled or anything was needed.

All in all it was a fun day and I'm very thankful that Trayc (sp???) is OK.

Too bad the same thing can't be said for Bushwhacker's ski after MTT put a giant core shot in it.

[begin bragging] I was also very happy to beat that Bushwackin' whipper snapper in the head-to-head race course. [/bragging]

I was bummed to not be able to make it. We had some guys from work coming over for the Super Bowl and I couldn't leave the wife to do all the clean up and prep work. Glad y'all had a good time.

I don't think we've skied together all season long, that needs to change. I'll be there this Sunday for sure, looking forward to seeing all the regulars and a few not so regulars there.
