Post Trip of a lifetime TR

It was defininatley the Trip of a Lifetime. We had the best luck to hit all the resorts with lots of fresh. The drive was very long, but went by faster then I would have imagined.
It ended up being only my wife, baby and I going (no babysitter as previously planned). That made the skiing a little lonely as we had to take turns, but was definatley still very fun.
My only regret was not being able to hook up with any Maggots at Alta on Thursday of the Summit. Maybe next year

The trip went fast down to Grand Targhee, Made it there in 2 days. It was dumping hard and we got there late afternoon, a little to late to ski But we looked around and took pictures

It didn't take long for the little one to get covered that day!

We left Targhee and headed to Jackson next. I can't remember the name of that pass, but holy Shit! Steep, and snowing hard! At the top, for those that don't know, is a large parking lot. That day it was jam packed to the hilt with cars and tracks on the hill beside the road were everywhere! It was snowing to hard to get a picture of the mountain, but it sure looked yummy!

We hit Jackson hole the next day, and where blessed with about a foot and a bit of fresh. I wish I knew the hill better, 'cause it was only after a few runs that I found where the snow had accumilated.

In the trees, nice and "Steep and Deep"!

But what a hill! Huge, Challenging, and looks to get its fair show of snow. Can't wait to go back one day.

Next on our trip came SLC and Alta! As luck would have it, it snowed a good 18-24 inches for us and was still snowing off and on on Thursday. Beautiful! All I have to say. I didn't even know where to go and I found lots of Mid thigh to waist deep snow all over. Very light, dry fluffy snow! Just like I had dreamed it to be!

Just a random skier that came my way when the light was good. For all those that haven't been, the snow is even better then it looks in this picture!

When it snows there, it really comes down. This was the view in the parking lot while my wife was out sking on Thurdays afternoon!

My radio battery was dead and I was late (cause of the baby) for first chair, and I had forgotten the name of the pub we were to meet at on Friday. I was really mad with myself because I was really looking forward to meeting so many of you. I know you all had a great day, cause I know I did.

I have a feeling that some of the tracks on this mountain where made by some maggots!

Friday brought out the sun and the fun. I came down the front side (sorry I don't know names) and my wife was able to catch a few turns of mine from a distance. The camera doesn't have much zoom, but you can scan in on the pic because of the high resolution. It was a little blurry because the camera was hand held, but hey, I like it!

    So wheres Waldo?

    There he is!

The LCC was very kind to us and we can't wait to come back!

The next day took us on the road to Steamboat Springs. On the way there is some Ice climbing
    http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...zy%20sport.jpg

Not for us, but very impressive

As luck would have it, We got to Steamboat and woke up for our first ski day with, what, 18inches! Sweet
I thought I would beat the crowds and get to the Gondola early! Ha what a joke. 8 AM and I must have been 300 people back Oh well the statue was neat
    http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...0Steamboat.jpg

My first ride up the storm chair showed me just how many people were ahead of me
    http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...0Steamboat.jpg
But I had no problem finding my own white room
http://www.tetongravity.com/usergall...en%20trees.jpg Man sking Aspen trees is something else! You can really open 'er up eh!

Everywhere I went, I kept finding completley untracked tree runs with at least waist deep the whole way down! I was thinking either I am the luckiest guy around, or there is even better on the hill. The locals must be gettin all the better stuff and I am tracking up their dessert! Either way I had a blast.

The rest of the week was pretty much bluebird and cold. So a couple days where spent finding the remaining pockets of powder, then the last couple of days were working out the legs on the endless gooming!

We left for home hoping to hit a hill or 2 in Montana before we cross the border to go home once again. But checking the weather and the ski hill sites form a hotel in Butte. It looked as though alot of hills (BB) just went through a thaw freeze cycle Even across the border alot of the hills I normally ski had gone through the same cycle. So we took it as a sign from Ullr not to push our luck, so we decided just to head home.

The trip ws amazing! The snow incredable, the resorts world class. The memories will last forever. Good thing I took alot of pictures!

    Oh ya!
I did wear my helmet cam a few times on the trip. When I get a chance to edit it down, I'll try and post up some vid!

Besides not skiing with your partner, it really isn't so bad. The day only cost's one ticket and you get to look around a little at the resorts while the other is skiing. All that really matters is that your little one is comfortable http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/50/21/Th...amily/e/fe.jpg happy http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/50/21/Th...amily/e/fa.jpg and able to have a little fun http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/50/21/Th...mily/e/10c.jpg and unwind. Also you have to let the little one tell some stories sometimes too! http://sc.groups.msn.com/tn/50/21/Th...mily/e/127.jpg We are real lucky and have a fanatastic little girl. She loved the trip and tried to absorb everything she could.
