Jong Digital Photo Processing Question

I've recently joined the 21st century and purchased a digital camera. I've uploaded a bunch of pics onto KodakGallery from which you can purchase prints. My question: would the quality of prints from that site equal that of prints from a fancy/schmancy photography shop? I'm looking to frame some things on about an 8x10 scale (the few pics that don't include my fingers) and am willing to pay if the difference in resolution, etc. is noticeable but really don't have a clue about this kind of stuff...

Buy a descent photo printer and do it yourself.

Why don't you order some and see? Don't they give you 10 free prints or something to start with?

Also, it's a lot easier (not to mention cheaper) than buying a good photo printer/paper/ink.

Depends. I don't know if KodakGallery does any resizeing of the photo's for the gallery. If they do, the prints might be less sharp than the ones printed from the original files. Then again, at the sizes you will be printing, it may not matter. If they have an option to upload originals for printing it is likely that those will be of equal quality as the ones you get from a photoshop.

The best thing to do would be to order a handful of prints from Kodak and then get the same photos printed at your local shop. That way you have the exact same pictures to compare and chose the method you like best in the future. I'm thinking there probably won't be any difference.

For everyday stuff (the kids and crap), I've had good results from Walmart online.

For GREAT prints, I use Adorama. Their high quality paper is really good!

They should be pretty high quality. I've ordered hundreds of prints thru Shutterfly and am very happy with them.

I use KodakCom all the time, 4X6's and 8X10s. excellent work!
cheaper online than any other local developer, better results, come in like 3 days.

Better than the walmart!
