    Jay Peak DH info?

I know the basics as far as registration, date, etc., but...
Is there a reasonably good chance of it happening this year? I was planning on it last year and it was canceled, as the skierx for tomorrow was (anyone know why?).
What's the course like? What length skis do people run?
    Anything else?
March 3, for anyone else interested.

The course has 3-4 Super G like turns at the top, then it's basically a straight tuck to the bottom. There's usually a small man-made jump at 3/4 of the way down. It's pretty damn fast. There's a speed trap right before the jump. The fast guys are all at 75 +.

You need real SG or DH skis...long GS skis aren't going to cut it.

It is almost always won by a kid from Burke MT Academy or Stratton Mountain School.

If they get enough snow in Feb, they'll run the race.

They claim it's 'postponed', but in Jayspeak that could easily mean canceled. I wonder why they're not having it...

Thanks, Square. That was pretty much my understanding of it. I guess if most of it is pretty straight the 217's should fit the bill. Looking forward to everything but the drive up there...

What is the 'Extreme Competition' on March 17th? The super sick freeski event on Green Beret?

Why cant they have a snowboard downhill? At 6'3 200 I bet I could smoke most of the park rat clowns that weigh like 110 pounds.

They have the competition on the Face Chutes--I know there are some people on this board who were in it last year or the year before. From what I hear its pretty good and its sactioned by the IFSA. The original plan was to start it on the face chutes then move the finals to the saddle on the ridge. But that didn't happen for various logistical reasons.
Just ski down there and jump of a somethin' fer cryin' out loud!

Maybe they'll let you in the regular--as long as you don't mind seeing how your time stacks up against the skiers'.
I actually went up one year to do the IFSA comp, but they only had about 1/5 of the snow they would've needed. Pow11 did it once, I think he said it was sort of fun even though the judging was retahded.

The qualifier is on Green Beret-to-Valhalla, or has been. The final is on the face.
