    JONG P14 Mounting Question??

Hey all - JOng away, but I am trying to mount some P14's for the first time. I have mounted bindings a lot, either in pre-existing holes or in skis with pre-drilled plates. So when I got my new to me LP's I picked up some P14's as I was told they were already drilled for the Pivot at my sole length. So here goes . . .

Obviously the toe piece is a no brainer. But with the heel piece I need some help.

    (1) I mounted the track aessembly (or whatever it is properly called. )

    (2) It then looks to me like the brakes need to be slid together with the heel?

    (3) I assume the brake and heel piece together are slid onto the track. . .

That is where my question is. Is there a right or wrong way to do this? Do I slide them from the tail (brake first) and slide them toward the tip? I assume that once you get them half way on you then have to start turning the rear screw to engage the coil like screw in the hell piece with the slates in the track?

I know I probably have used improper names for all the pieces so forgive me. Can anyone help me out?

    Sounds right to me.

There is a way you could check though:

Do exactly what you described. If it works, then you were right. If it doesn't work, then you should try something else.

    jeez.

I am just scared of getting the f'ing thing stuck if I am wrong. I tried a dry run before screwing the track to the ski and it didn't slide well at all.

Should I expect to need to pound it along the plate with some force?

    It should slide fairly smooth.

Try putting it on without the brakes first to see if you're doing it right.

Don't forget to grease the skids.

That was much easier than I expected. When I tried to do a dry run it was a bitch, but with the track actually mounted firmly to the ski it was no problem. Thanks for the help boys.

Follow up question. In terms of getting the bindings just right for the boot sole length it seemed correct to tighten the screw until the heel of the boot was just barely touching the heel piece of the binding. When I clicked into the binding it seemed to grab the heel piece of the boot just right. But it seemed like the boot fit tighter into the binding when the binding was not engaged then it does in say in a Solly or Marker???

the screw adjustment screw should be flush with the edge of the plastic divot/cutout/depression for correct forward pressure
as for the "tighter" part welcome to the wonderful world of LOOKs you will never go back....
