    Dynafit durability on bigger skis

I am a relatively new Dynafit user as I have been only riding them this year. I love the way they tour and are obviously a ton better than the FR's I was on previously. For what it's worth, I always lock down the toes and have the din cranked.

My question is this: have any of you guys (or gals) skiied with a Dynafit set-up on a larger ski? I want to team Dynafit with an Aero 4 or like burly boot on a 100+ waisted ski. Has any one skiied a Dynafit on a larger ski???

Also, I've often taken some moderate airs 20-30 feet on the FR's with no problem. So far only 10-15 feet on the Dynafit's....probably not reccomended, but anyone going larger on these?

freeride areos with dynafits on 104mm waisted vcts
havent skied them but maybe 6 days, a few of which were resort
obviously not a lot to report, but the setup has been solid, no problems.

do some searching for that potentially useful info for dynafit users by jonathan s. should answer any question you have. if it doesnt, post in that thread and someone will help.

    nothing worth calling a "huck".
more of a drop here or there of generally no more than 3-5feet.
i have pounded a few bump runs though.

i've had no problems on 180 'sploders. small "hucks" no more than 8' to hardpack, one full day of pounding bumps at mad river. no durability issues yet.

I imagine that pounding bumps on the ec will put 'em through more abuse then a 20'er into pow. I did have an insta-tele experience with both skis when the landing was harder than expected. It caused a tumble but everything was intact.

I have absolutely zero hucking credentials and therefore can't offer any overall conclusion, but my thoughts on various Dynafit attributes that are important for "aggressive" (however defined) skiing are now posted on a friend's website:

2 day so far in the wasatch depth sugar, they rule.

don't ski bumps/resorts with the bindings, you will push the heel pins through the boot fittings.(vertially)

drops are probably o.k., smaller, to a soft landing.

they are a bomber, light, strong touring binding. if you make them do things they were not designed for, they will fail.

i just got them, i don't see myself using them much in the east.

the previous owner skis them, with bombers and t races,

and does 8-10 k on the slides on a routine basis.

badder than you and me put together.

i did not know there was a slide named "like marcy and shit'

I have the Sanouk - Vert ST- Mega set up and love it. No hucks to speak of but some good and not so good pow days and a few short groomer days.

AS someone else said, they are touring bindings. Anything I would do in the BC I will do on this set up. Long resort days or big airs to hard landings aren't a great idea but I don't either of those things on purpose anyway.

I was also thinking of the Sanouk Comfort set-up but heard that the softer skis could cause some issues with premature releasing. Any issues with that? I will say that the Sanouk is soooo $ in the soft goods and they weigh 2150 gr. per ski....just weighed them the other week - not bad!

No problems yet and I don't foresee any. For a Dynafit to release due to flexing the ski has to DE-camber a lot. I can't really see this happening unless the shovel were caught under a tree or something and I still can't see the ski DE-cambering enough unless someone were simultaneously standing on the tails. This might be a really good time to release anyway.

This is very different from the insta-tele with Fritschis which occurs when the ski over flexes in the natural direction.

    regarding pre-release on softer skis

if youre super concerned, make sure to get the comfort or vert models with the slightly longer heel pins. Honestly, I think if you have these bindings, its pretty much a non issue so long as you have them adjusted correctly.

2150grams per ski isnt *horrible* but its not something Id want to skin with a long ways. Shit, thats basically the weight of a 186 LP. DP120+Dynafit seems like a sweet combo, and this may sound gat, but I wish they made a DP110.

Nah, the new 120 is the old 100....especially when there is no camber to consider.
