A marker binding TR (squeamish? dont click!)

Dad was stepping out all the first day when they were set according to the chart so that avo. we went back to the store which fitted them and got the forward pressure checked and the din dialed up including a release test.

Third run of the next day on the cat track back to the lift, he was just skiing normally and carved on some small ice bumps (not big ones, little kids were traveling past us) and *bam* ski came off he had what i would descried as a fu*&i(# big ass fall. Reason for the fall, bindings 'seemed' to release prematurity. I was traveling directly behind him and he was in perfect control just on edge and traveling on some choppy icy bumps not getting thrown around or in the backseat.

    End result?
    3internal stitches and 7external

    Vibes are appreciated. haha

    Having the bindings checked again.

    Vibes for a few stitches?

Friends don't let friends ski Markers. Thankfully his fall was not more serious.

Skied Killington with 2 other kids this weekend- both had Markers and both had releases when just skiing along. Once was a one ski off- continue skiing situation, the other a double ejection to sailor dive. The double ejection looked to be because there was a lot of crud (the bindings were dialed high, so they still should not have released). The first one I have no explanation or possibilities. Other than they are Markers and have a tendency to prerelease for little or no reason.

I can remember having Markers on the pair of skis where I was actually starting to ski sorta fast on. One day, when the local hill was uncrowded and a really nice, long groomer was finally open, I got to the bottom and my dad mentioned that my binding looked wrong. I looked down to find my boot toe about halfway out of the binding. I have no idea how it stayed in, but I was back at the shop that afternoon saying I needed a higher DIN.

Max out the DIN, usually those system bindings top out at 12.

heh, yah, nice lighting for the stitches. check your boot soles. if those are worn bad then it could be at fault, most likely just the fact that you have markers though.

That is one bad ass surgeon.
You're gonna stand there, owning a fireworks stand, and tell me you don't have no whistling bungholes, no spleen spliters, whisker biscuits, honkey lighters, hoosker doos, hoosker donts, cherry bombs, nipsy daisers, with or without the scooter stick, or one single whistling kitty chaser?

Checked toe's and heals and there not worn badly as he uses cat tracks but to be safe he's going to get a new set.

I had some bindings mounted at a shop a couple weeks ago. I am 209 lbs and a level III (expert) skier on the binding ratings. After they ran my stats through the insurance chart and subtracted the appropriate factor for my age they told me they were going to set them at a DIN of 6 1/2 . I just laughed because all my skis are set at a DIN of 9 1/2. I started thinking about it and figured maybe I am getting older and weaker, so I only cranked them up to 8 1/2. The first day I walked out of a toe, but figured it must have been ice on my boot. A little later my friends had a real laugh when I hit a big depression they had all just skied and I blew out of a heel onto my face. I can imagine how long I would have lasted on the shop setting.

The industry settings do not appear to have any relation to skiing reality.
