Why Snowboard Pipe on Sunday Prime Time?

I have nothing against snowboarding as most of my friends ride and I enjoy it myself but why does ESPN put boarding pipe on Sunday prime time and shaft skiing for Friday? I feel that skiing pipe is progressing faster than snowboarding with the expection of Matt Fisher, because that was amazing. Skiers are now dropping in switch and don't have the cookie cutter 10 to switch 10 runs that all snowboards have. Here are two photos I put together in photochop. Fist one is side by side and the second one is an overlay. The top of pipe appears different in the overlay due to different camera zooms, I highlighted the same hash mark on each height scale to normalize it. Yes I did make sure to capture the highest point of each hit. Simon got shafted, T-Hall won due to politics = sucks.

cause they want to appeal to the massive pop-culture of the snowboarding community. more viewers = more money for them. thats what it really comes down to =[

Snowboard pipe is the original x-games premier event. Also, the snowboard pipe competion is far deeper competitively than skier pipe.

I couldn't believe the poopy pants exhibited by S. White after he found out that he didn't win. Didn't shake Fisher's hand...I think he just dabbed some tears with his fucking bandana and ran away from the cameras.

He jumped on a snowmobile and went back to the top of the pipe...
I agree he should have been more of a sportsman, but it wasn't like he was complaining he got robbed either.

You sure you're not compairing first to third hit (although I do agree the skiers were going a bit bigger in the pipe).

It is first hit to first hit as I paused the videos myself. I would say Simon was 4-5ft higher than Fisher, not to mention he was actually doing something in the air, cork 540 truck drive to mute grab. It seems as though the snowboarders would do a straight air to two for amplitude and then start their run.

While I think ski jibbing has gotten to the point of being more technical and more visually pleasing... like MKJ said, it comes down to history and bling.

Snowboarding pipe is more rooted in the x-games AND the people doing it are well known. I mean, The Flying Tomato versus Tanner Hall as headliners? Which one has an ESPN commercial?

OH, and Danny Kass rules. Hometown REPRESENT!

Didn't Men's skiing Superpipe close out the X-Games last year? Seems to me they are just switching it up.

    Yeah,
all those x-game type contests did the same thing to rollerblading a while back. They started showing more and more of skateboarding, while showing less and less rollerblading!
    WTF!

Just like new school skiing, rollerblading turned out to be a temporary fad. But Dammit, they should have put it on primetime 'cause I loved that shit!
