Northern ID and Montana mags - Beta request

    Hi,

We are Golden BC - Excellent conditions at Kicking Horse BTW - and need to be in Salt Lake by next Friday. Considering the following options along the way:
Schweitzer, Silver Mountain, Montana Snowbowl, Bridger/Big Sky.

If anyone has recent beta on any of these places - or other suggestions along the way - it would be much appreciated.

Full current TR is here, doing pretty good despite the general high pressure of the last 2 weeks: http://tetongravity.com/forums/showthread.php?t=74038

    Thanks,

    Steve

Drive south to Fernie and ksi there, then cross the border and ski Big Mtn, then South to MT snowbowl in Missoula then over to I-15 and possibly Big Sky/moonlight. Then down to Targhee/Jackson area... Silver and schwietzer are out of your way if you are going to SLC.

i ski moonlight all the time. i wouldnt go out of my way to ski here now. Unless you have never done it and want to check it out. the skiing is ok but not great, we are probably one good storm away from good skiing, but who knows when that is going to happen.

by the way, if it is snowing when you cross lookout pass, its a good way to kill a half day.

    Thks,

BUMP. Anyone else skied these areas recently?

Targhee -> only after a big dump. Been there many times, so not worth going back unless there is new snow.

Skied Panorama yesterday which still had nice soft snow almost all the way down to the base. Kicking Horse is also doing pretty well...

I saw and heard reports of lots of EHP (Extra hard pack) yesterday.
I skied Bridger and everything that wasn't the ridge sucked ass. (The ridge was ok). Nice big bare grassy spots on the runs, the bumps are firm and full of rocks.
Has some friends that skied snowbowl and said it wa firm too, but the coverage was good.
We had a warm week, then a cold front moved in and froze all the thawed out stuff.

blacktail mountain (bigfork) - good fast groomers, tad icey, no lift lines, free demo's *got to try some seths*
big mountain (whitefish) - more base than bigsky/moonlight but nothing new lately
bigsky/moonlight - last week, good groomers some pow left to poach. like fez said, one or two more dumps and it'll be golden
bridger - decent snowfall, what fluff hasn't been swept away by wind you'll really work hard to get to. get a cold smoke and an akhavi if you go!
Disco - heard it was decent, abit icey
if it is snowing when you cross lookout pass, its a good way to kill a half day.
X2 good base there right now

    proly don't agree with that

basically the entire state is average right now, don't expect to get balls deep until we get hit again. 11 days and counting...

    If this can help anyone...

Schweitzer and Silver Mountain: Great base, groomers are great if that's your thing. Off piste - Anything South facing is dead, other aspects are OK higher than 5000'. My guess is that there has been warm temps since the last snow. Ironically, the more tracked the off piste is, the better. The chopped stuff is really hard to ski.

I liked Silver better than Schweitzer. A lot smaller, but better overall pitch. Nothing super steep at either place...
