I've got a funny question: I bought a westcomb Franz shell off steep and cheap a few weeks ago. Pretty stoked on it, very well made.

It's listed as a men's jacket (and the sizing would have to be, it's a medium and it's pretty big). But the friggin zipper is on the wrong side like a chick's jacket......on the left. Is that some canadian thing?

In Canada we put the zipper on the womens side for mens size xxs because well anyone that size is not a real man anyway.

Eider does that too. I think it's just an Amerikun thing to switch it for men. Not sure though.

Aren't all Euro men left handed
I need to go to Utah.
    Utah?
Yeah, Utah. It's wedged in between Wyoming and Nevada. You've seen pictures of it, right?

So after 15 years we finally made it to Utah.....

Anyone seen the vapor fx jacket in stock anywhere? Been trying to track down the pavement color through some dealers as westcomb is totally sold out.

Those Vapor pants look rad. No hanging mesh I suppose? I would not want mesh in that pant.

No mesh and no insulation in the Vapor. Waist adjustments are with buttons which I prefer over velcro. Feels super light at 25 oz.

Light weight is good. Going to pair with a FYI Designs Burton AK Gore Pro coat.

That looks like a damn nice setup. I'm interested in the Vapor FX pants, but would like to try them on before I buy and none of the Seattle area retailers have them in. Anyone seen them at any stores in the Vancouver area?

Very happy with my Vapor FX jacket and pants so far this season. Keep me dry in Whistler weather and I also find I cool down fast after a sweaty climb or spending time in the trees (I sweat a lot).

And yes, Valhalla on Broadway carries them, for more: http://westcomb.com/store-locator

I'm a large, sweaty dude at 6' and 215 and I've been pretty happy with the vapor fx pants in xl so far this season. I snagged them for half off on backcountryoutlet, so pretty stoked on bang for buck. They fit pretty large around my waist, but this allows for more layering options so I'm ok with it. I'm stoked on cross ventilation-vents on both the inner and outer thighs are something I don't find often enough.

One complaint is that they don't come with suspenders. Fortunately, I cannibalized some off of my older TNF HyVent pants (the suck). Yay for velcro. In the future, these should really come with suspenders - check out Arc'T for IMHO the best detachable system. Only other complaints are on the cuff - the elastic on the gaiter needs to be tighter, it slips over the buckles on my ski boots just skiing. The cuff is a little baggy relative to the size of the protective patch-either the protective material needs to be bigger or the cuff needs to be a little small.

They're pretty waterproof, and only get damp where my hands rest on the lift.

Review of the Skeena Hoody in Backpacker Magazine:
    http://www.backpacker.com/fall-winte...ody/gear/14652

Apply a weather-resistant shell to your favorite wool sweater, and you get the Skeena. This softshell features a merino wool fabric lining the shoulders, hood, chest, and upper arms, so it’s as warm as many lightweight down jackets. Though the jacket is not seam-sealed, an eVent waterproof/breathable membrane protects those merino zones from wind and precipitation. And on the back, underarms, and sides, super-stretchy Schoeller Dryskin panels deliver top-notch breathability.

While snowshoeing in Rocky Mountain National Park and on a blustery day atop 14,265-foot Quandary Peak, our tester pulled it on during rest breaks to provide much-needed insulation. It also served as a cozy camp jacket during a winter trip to Great Sand Dunes National Park. On-the-go, this toaster (it lacks venting options) is best for extreme cold, in the teens or below.

“Hiking uphill in the 20s, I was overheating within 200 yards,” says our tester. The wool-lined front pockets make excellent hand-warmers, and durability is outstanding: After being dragged across sandstone and through pine branches, the Skeena looks brand new—and spiffy enough for city wear. Downside: It doesn’t pack down small, but what you gain in weatherproof insulation is worth the bulk. $360; 1 lb. 7 oz.; m’s S-XXL, w’s XS-XL.

Website describes Flow as having "820nt" event vs the Mirage's 560. Assuming this means 50% thicker-anyone fondled them side by side to confirm? Have a Mirage which I like, but for cold days a bit heavier would be good-does seem a bit thinner than Arcteryx sv gore.

    Vapor jacket question

So I fondled a pair of Vapor pants and really liked the construction and the feel of the fabric. And I liked the fact they were made on the same continent I live on. But this shit ain't cheap so I scaled in with pants first and then just got the jacket. The Large pants fit me fine.

The bummer is I gotta order this stuff online since here on the EC nobody has it.

    Me: 6'1"~190, 35" waist, 34" inseam, 16.5" neck, 34" sleeve, 43" chest

My question is the fit of the Vapor jacket--the unlined one.

I just got the jacket in. But, I'm not sure I'm keeping this on fit issues. It's a L.

    Large pants, large jacket, right?

People must be bigger in Canada--eh? At least up top. It’s so fracking cold in VT I usually ski with a Patagonia down sweater underneath my shell from Dec-March, and even with that on, this jacket is big. The lower waist is fine, the sleeve length is fine, the neck fits fine, but up top by the shoulder, arm and chest area, its really big. If I had 44 D cups, and arms like Carrot Top, I think this jacket might fit. When I sit down, it’s just billowing out too much for me.

I've never been a Medium size anything in my adult life, but I'm thinking I may have to order one to try on.

Has anyone here my size tried the Medium vs. Large Vapor on? Just hoping to get some feedback before I max out the credit card on jackets and USPS fees.

The Vapor is a freeride cut and fits a size larger than alpine cut.

Bought some Vapor FX pants in pavement, size medium.

I'm 5'8" 145 32 waist. The waist is fine but they are really long. Also, the picture on their website shows black zippers. Mine came with red zippers. No bueno.

I'm sending them back if they refund all shipping charges. Otherwise they'll be up for sale in a day.

edit- actually the fit is fine, just a little baggy.

Vapor pants fit bigger than Vapor shell in my experience. I have both in large and am 5'10 200#, 34-35 inch waist pants usually, 30 inch inseam. Jacket fits perfectly, pants are big in the waist. Had a seamstress sew suspenders into them because otherwise they fall down and I feel like a park skier . I don't like wearing belts with ski pants.

funk: My pants are cement (I think) and have red zippers, pretty sure they are last years as I got them at a sample sale.
